People with no external CD/DVD-ROM, how do you install software with discs?

I tried Alcohol to read in my Warcraft 3 discs and turn them into mdf or iso on my desktop, then transfer those files to my laptop and install the game off the mdf/iso, but it seems like it wasn't a true copy because after the installation, it's asking me to put in the CD even though I have mounted that CD on a virtual drive already.

    What are some other ways?

I'm trying to avoid buying an external drive because I rarely use it, except for software installation purposes.

WC3 doesn't need the disc to play. I believe Blizzard updated this in a recent patch.
