Ok, I'm either buying the Z63A or Z70A. So, which wireless optical notebook mouse do you guys prefer? Also, if next to others with a wireless mouse, will they interfere? Should I go corded?

Man, the Z70 is SWEET![ :D] Justin, thanks for keeping us all updated.

Are any of those bluetooth??.. I don't know if the Z63A has bluetooth but the Z70A does.

Are you a gamer??.. I have always recommended wired optical mouse for gamers. Something to do about accurate aiming and tiny movements that makes wireless not as responsive as wired.

No, no gaming. Also, I doubt the "A" models will have bluetooth, but maybe. If so, I would definitely look into it.

Yeah, lights and a button, but it's not showing up in the device manager. Asus thinks Taiwan may have preped it, so they are going to see if they can get the modules.......

bluetooth was NEVER planned for this model at ALL.... but they also would have gotten rid of the hot button and dedicated bt light if thats what they were going to do....

so we'll see where it takes us.... but the "first 100" not having them isn't true or false... If Asus can get the seperate bt module then it'll just be an option we can add...... and they may never bring them in with bt already on board. It's just that 100 of these showed up and it's not on any of them, but they are all preped the same way.

    Thanks,
    Justin

The first 100 Z70's into the US do not have BT, however, we may be able to get cards for them in the future.

Anyway, any preferences? Logitech, Microsoft, or is it a wash?

    Wired, wireless?

    OOOPS!!! Sorry... [:I]

It might be just a personal observation.. meaning I have not read anything against or for Logitech.. But.. I have used Logitech and MS optical mouse, and I will testify in a court of law that MS is more responsive than logitech. [:D]

    Wired/Wireless

If you are not into gaming, go for wireless. Less cables and mess to deal with.

Cyber - awesome, that is what I'm looking for. I have only used Microsoft in the past, so that info is good to know.

Does anybody know if there will be interference if somebody sitting next to me also has a wireless mouse?

Ok.. let me see if I don't screw this up and confuse you (or me) more. They are two types of wireless technologies, the infrared (IR)and the radio frequency (RF). The IR is the one that has less interference but the RF can work at a greater distance. IR are cheaper than RF.

What else??? .. Ohh about your question.. Do you get more interference on your cellphone when somebody sits next to you with theirs???.. [;)]

Well, I'm looking at the typical MS or Logitech offering. I don't know what type of signal they put out. I was just wondering if it is like an RC toy, where if you’re on the same frequency you could be screwed, or, if they have multiple frequencies to keep away from that sort of problem.

Sorry, didn't mean to sound rude. You are right that if they were using the same frequency (or the same frequency range) you are screwed. But that is the reason they used different frequencies.

Now, since we live in a world were everything is going wireless.. chances are that we will experience more interference in the future. But fear not.. cause there is where bluetooth and all new technologies (digital radio.. or something) come in.

Personally I've never used microsoft since my first one died. I have been very pleased with all the Logitech models I have owned and used. The latest being mx300, mx500, mx700, and mx1000. The only problem for you may be that the wireless models, mx700, mx900, amd mx1000 usually have large recievers, becasue they also can charge your mouse's batteries. However since the mx900 is bluetooth if you have that you wont have to wory about always carrying the reciever. Also, for your information mx700 is rf and mx1000 is laser.

I've been happy with both my desktop wireless mouse and my laptop wireless mouse, both by Microsoft. I've never tried Logitech, but the Microsoft ones are fine by me. I like the Microsoft laptop one since it's little smaller to be more portable, but still fits my hand okay, and the receiver plugs into the bottom of the mouse disabling power when you're packing it away. AFAIK, the Logitech may have the same feature, I just think it's cool.

I have used MS and Logitech mice, and I will say I am a logitech fan. TO me they are alot better product. I also game alot and the logitech mice are more responcive for me.

But anyway, selecting the right mouse will depend on what you plan to do with your laptop.

I use this one for my laptop (not my gaming mouse)http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2135,CONTENTID=10247

I use this one for a few reasons:
    1. it has multimedia controls built right into the mouse, so it will double as a remote control for your PC/Laptop.
    2. I wanted a mouse that has forward/backward buttons on it (I just can't seem to live without those). For some reason most "laptop" mice do not have these.

Like most laptop mice this unit has a small USB transmitter that plugs into your laptop/PC and will communicate with your mouse.

Thanks, all. Last week I bought the MS mouse BEFORE I read all the pro-Logitech stuff, oh well. It’s just for IE and Office, so nothing critical. I went with the MS because it looked like the comparable Logi didn’t have a place for the USB thing to snap into the mouse (for storage) – it came with a bag instead.

I use the MS mouse and have the Logi too. For me the desk space and all the cables with the Logi are a turn off.
