this was just a curiosity of mine, but i was wondering if there was a pico-projector(or something relatively portable) that could project onto a table(with or without attachments).

the reason i'm interested in this is because I would like to

*keep a privacy filter on my laptop while being able to show other people documents

*show documents without having everybody crowd around one monitor

DO NOT talk about 'file-sharing' of any kind - the entire purpose of this is for in-person meetings where there are not enough laptops for everybody

to be honest, i'm pretty sure something like this doesn't exist, but if it does, i don't want to be missing out on it.

this is for CASUAL 'meetings.' DO NOT tell me to get a screen or project onto the wall. the vast majority of the time i would use something like this is in the library.

i bought an optoma pk-301 pico projector and its really nice. about a 20 lumen brightness on battery. and when plugged into the wall its a nice 50 lumens brightness. one of the best things about these pico projectors is that they use an led bulb so they have a MUCH higher life then the standard projector bulb.

heres a link to the specs on the projector.

I also bought this tripod for it since its rather portable and extends to a really decent size.(i bought it locally but it was this one)

It doesnt include a mini hdmi cable so i bought this one from merit line (nice 6ft braided cable :D)

if you want some pictures of the projector just let me know and ill try to get you what you need :D

okay....what setups are you guys using to make it project onto a horizontal surface? any attachments or special lenses, tripods, etc.

the tripod i posted is what i use. its adjustable to any height up to its specified maximum and can point in pretty much any angle since it has 3 adjusting nobs for that so you could easily put it on the table and just point down.

a portable solution to a screen of sorts that doesnt kill your wallet would be to look for a cheap portable easel and modify it to accommodate a screen like surface :D.

Pick the tallest viewer as an assistant and hope he has steady hands. :p

A basic camera tripod would probably do the trick. Best case scenario, the projector you choose has a mounting hole ready in the bottom. Cheapest one you'll find in any shop will do, as long as it's sturdy enough to handle the pico projector :D

In some cases the facility you are doing the show may already have a tripod available, so you don't have to carry such around all the time. If you are traveling by plane, one possibility is to buy a cheap tripod at target location and donate it to someone when you leave.

    IRT to above

right, my main concern is if the lens in the projector can be adjusted for the horizontal surface.

i'm aware that larger, standard-sized projectors have lenses with adjustable focus and other settings. it sounds like pico-projectors have simioliar functionality.

I do know that the AAXA P1jr, M1 Ultimate and M2 all have vertical keystone adjustments. Is that what you're looking for? You can see them at:

AAXA M2 Micro Projector - LCoS Hand-held Mini Projector - XGA LED Pocket Projector

AAXA M1 Micro Projector - LCoS Hand-held Mini Projector - LED Pocket Projector

Amazon.com: AAXA Technologies P1Jr Pico LCoS Hand-held Mini Projector: Electronics

There aren't any pico/micro projectors that have horizontal keystone correction to the best of my knowledge.
