This is my very first Bluetooth device so I'm stumbling through but would appreciate some help.

I was able to connect this wireless bluetooth headset to my Dell 1330 without problem and can see the device as connected on the bluetooth menu. Bluetooth is built in to the device, so I didn't think I'd need the universal adapter. But when I play something, for instance anything in my itunes library, the sound still comes out of the speakers. If I go into the Sound menu in my control panel and make the Plantronics the default device, I get no sound at all.

I then attached the universal adapter to the computer and THEN I am able to hear my music on the headphones. I didn't think this was necessary. What am I doing wrong?

Never mind...will return the headset and get a more reliable wired set. Just not worth the hassle.

I use these and love them, you cant run away from a small issue when it comes to technology because trouble shooting is how you learn more.

Anyways it all worked fine out of the box for me, my guess is your have an older bluetooth card or drivers that does not support the right bluetooth profile for wireless stereo you need A2DP, also I found under my drivers I needed to have bluetooth radio enabled.

How is the device paring, as a headset or as headphones? It can do both.

The Dell 1330 is only about a month old; I do believe it has A2DP. I got a bit antsy, though, at the hassle it was to get the things working...pressing this button, then turning it on, waiting for it to be seen, and I was anticipating that I would have to keep having to go into the sound menu and keep changing the default from speakers to the Plantronics when I wanted to use them, which honestly is a pain when you're just used to plugging something in and it automatically switches over to headphone mode and mutes the speakers.

While it worked when I had the adapter in for listening to music (which irked me, but still it did work), when I tried Skype it was just horrendous. All kinds of echoes. And while I understand some troubleshooting would no doubt bring this around eventually, it seemed too much work for the price I paid for them (I paid much more than you did; your review is what prompted me to buy them in the first place).

I don't recall seeing Bluetooth radio in my drivers, but it's a moot point. I've gone ahead and already got an RMA number.

    Sorry to hear.

For me it does automatically use the headphones once I connect them, also only the first time do I have to go thru the long pairing procedure. After I saved the connection. Now all I have to do is turn the headphones on, open my bluetooth menu and hit connect on my plantronics icon and it does all the rest.
