    Hi all,

I'm looking for a laptop bag with wheels that can carry a Dell 1525 and about 2 textbooks for a female student. I'm looking at this McKlein USA W Series Willowbrook Leather Detachable Wheeled Women's 17" Laptop Case- eBags.com. Looks like it's beautiful and receives lots of compliments but there are some reviews saying it's not roomy enough to put textbooks in when you have your laptop. Has anyone ever used this one before?

If you know other bags that has some colors for girls and has enough room for a student everyday use, please recommend me one.

    Thanks a lot,

    -Caten

Thats nice when you wheel your stuff across an airport once in a while, but for everyday use on a school campus where you have to climb stairs or have uneven ground? No thanks :)

A backpack is pretty much the only option imho.

Don't school now have elevators instead of stairs? She already has a backpack but the stuffs she carries are too heavy for her that's why I want her to have a wheeled bag..

Hmmm... I see what you mean, the 1525 weighs just 200g shy of the 17-inch Macbook Pro, a machine I'd balk at carrying all day along with my attendant crud - which, being male, is not much.

That and a couple of textbooks, assuming 1.2Kg each, plus the charger assuming the 1525 doesn't have quite enough endurance with the 6-cell for all-day use - would I guess, total around 6Kgs - 13lbs - and that's without everyday detritus - which in the case of the ladies will I'm sure total more than a kilo. So that's probably 7 kilos minimum.

    Jeez.

However, I also concur with Volker. We had a chat about wheeled cases a while back, but I happen to think that the forces that a laptop comes under when minimally sleeved in a wheeled case is completely different to being carried normally and also more likely to induce failure - as well as being difficult to control in non-smooth-airport-floor situations.

Have you/her thought about a different laptop? A ~1.5Kg class, 8-real-hour CULV maybe along the lines of the Acer Timeline 3810T or even smaller)? You can kick on some power-saving and dispense with the AC adapter, and the machine itself weighs 3.5lbs - so she'd have a 2Kg / 4.4lb head start over the 1525 + AC adapter, and while it's still fairly weighty, 5 kilos should be doable for most ladies with a backpack.

In case you are interested in a more professional look (that's what my girlfriend uses for her job)

    Travelpro

They have the best rolling quality ( and the best quality in general ) I have seen so far (check under other categories as well, you may find something more suitable)

This may be not what you are looking for, but I would order one from Target. I got one a couple of years ago for business purposes and it is still going strong. They are pretty inexpensive and have good options for women. In an actual store you won't get as many options, so definitely order online.
