I dont have too much to spend, certainly not over 50 dollars. I play counter strike source a lot so i will want something that can use the "sensitivty on the go" adjustments or whatever it is.
I probably want one thats wired, just because I hate having to deal with batteries. Point me in the right direction please :D

I'd suggest the MX-518, only because the profile button is on the bottom of the Death Adder. Opticals destroy lasers in accuracy at high speeds, read up at esreality.

I have the Mx-518 and love it, but when i used it without a mouse pad, it would twist (in games) and it would just mess up. So i have a 5 dollar EA games mouse pad that makes it work MAGIC!!! Also on logitech there lasers are a little bit more lowered to the ground (so there is no lag) and it could scrach the lens. So i would STRONGLY SUGGEST getting a mouse pad!!!!

There's no way anything on the optical system will rub on the mousing surface, it's very deeply recessed. If yours isn't, then something is wrong.

I still like cloth, for it's smooth mousing feel and the fact that it doesn't wear down the mouse's teflon pads. Plus you can't beat it for quiet. Right now I'm using a cloth steelpad, but I don't like how quickly it starts looking all ragged. I think I'm going to experiment with suede glued to acrylic.

I would take a look at the Razer Diamondback. You can snag it for around ~$40 at newegg.
In my opinion, the Diamondback flat out destroys everything in its price range, including the Mx518. There is a review in my sig if you are interested.

I really like the look of the Razers but I think that the feel of the 518 will be a lot better. does the mx-518 work on the razer exactmat?

where are the "on the fly sensitivity" adjustment buttons located on the diamondback?

The best mouse you can have, I have one and it has lasted for 3 years and still working great and feels nice as well.

The one thing I'd suggest against are the ones with the rubberized plastic top, they gum up the teflon pads really badly. Cloth gets ragged and dirty, but it's a lot nicer for mousing consistency, I think.
