Hello! I was wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a portable gaming surface?

I have been eyeballing the razer kabuto, razer goliathus, and possibly razer mantis? I am a razer nut, my first razer was a copperhead and I STILL use it (though I need to replace the feet) four years later. That sealed the deal for me, any mouse that lasts me for four years of gaming (even if it was like 70 or 80 bucks at the time) tells me it's a quality product.

Any of you have any good recommendations of the above, or have anything I might be missing?

Define portable. You mean, like to roll up and stow in your pocket, or slip in a backpack? My eXactMat fits in my backpack quite nicely, and it's pretty thin so it doesn't get in the way.

If you do get the Goliathus, be careful - according to Razer, it's not meant to be rolled up for transport.

Funny because they come in a rolled up packaging. :D

Go for the Steelseries QcK mini, those are pretty much identical and cheaper. That said I own the small Goliathus myself and when I do travel I just place it in the laptop compartment. I have been using my for over 1.5yrs now. The Qck Mats weren't available back when I bought the Goliathus. Argh.

i, too, use the exactmat. it's a solid (aluminum) mousepad that can't be rolled up, but it's very thin and can slip right in between wherever yur laptop is goin. plus the exactmat comes with 2 different surfaces. a rougher/textured side for "control" or low sensitivity players. the "speed" side is very smooth for the high sensitiviy players.

the exactpad that comes with the exactmat is also pretty useful, when u are stationary. i wouldn't recommend it for gaming, mainly FPS's, but for general use the exactpad is very well designed.

I have an exact mat at home but I don't know offhand whether it will fit in my backpack or not (swiss ibex). When I get home I"ll see.

Crap, I mistook that for the Sphex. That's another soft surface of theirs, but you're definitely not supposed to roll that one. I ordered one for my girlfriend, and it came in a flat envelope-type package. :p

i am also looking for a gaming surface. looking between either the Razer Kabuto or the Steelseries Qck Mini. the Kabuto doubles up as a screen protector but it more than twice the price, do you think you could but the Qck mini in the laptop like the Kabuto? its 2mm but wasnt sure if the pad would damage the screen or not.

I have both the Razer Goliathus and Steelseries Qck. Prefered the Goliathus, especially after I got my Deathadder.
