I need some advice on buying some sort of small/portable speakers for my laptop. I have a Dell Latitude 6430u (the first Latitude Ultrabook) and has always been exceptional with one exception- pathetic audio! It seems to have gotten worse over the two years I’ve owned it because it isn’t possible to hear a YouTube video or even an audio track from the internal speakers. The volume is too low even when the system and the media player at the max volume.

I’ve tried changing drivers, verified that the speakers aren’t physically damaged and that they remain properly connected. They simply suck!

It isn’t an issue most of the time because I keep a high-quality set of earbuds and headphones in my laptop bag all the time. But if I have a video I want to watch with someone else, I usually end up playing it on my phone instead. But there are times when it would be nice to show an interesting or amusing video to a friend or family member and everyone be able to hear it.

There are a ton of portable speakers out there (my initial searches have been a bit overwhelming). The biggest question is what connection method would be the best choice for quality- Bluetooth, USB, the stereo/headphone jack or another way?

If anyone could offer some input on this I would GREATLY appreciate it! If you have any specific recommendations of speakers for $50 or less, that would be also be great.

    Thanks!

@allfiredup I got the Oontz Angle Plus earlier this year (I saw it being reviewed in some place and it was full of praise. It was / still is on sale on Amazon). It's really great. Small, lightweight and easy to carry around. Very nice battery life. Can be connected through Bluetooth (easily paired with all my devices) or a stereo jack. Powered/charged through USB.

I would definitely recommend this great portable speaker. I use it at home as well as when lounging out with friends. Great sound quality for the design, price.
