I have the portapros I love the sound quality of them. I am wondering how much of a leap will the sound quality be by upgrading my portapros to a higher up sennheiser headphone, such as the 595. Does anyone have experience with them both?

I also own a pair of portapros and love them as well. They definitely sound better than most headphones that I have tried in the same price range.

Same here portapros sound as good as headphones many times their price. At its price range I don't think there is anything that comes close.
I've compared it to a 555 and I thought the portapros sounded better.

Well, this is unexpected. I guess it isn't worth upgrading my portapros then. I might do it anyway just for the aesthetics...

I know Porta Pros are ugly as heck (IMO), but they sound much better than most headphones 4x their price. I had one back in the day but gave them to my bro, who broke them. :(

    ^ haha yes

Have some taste for nostalgia, its the only way anything will look cool in eventuality. And he broke them? I didn't know that was possible.

FYI there are 2 versions of the koss porta pros. I don't know which might look more modern but one is silver and one is black (the silver ones are actually a newer revision).

I have also used a senn 595 although I wasn't able to directly compare it to my portapros.
The 595 can sound very good with a dac. Without it, it's substandard as most laptop audio systems don't have the power to drive it.
It's better than the portapros with a dac but I doubt you'd be impressed comparing this 250 usd can to your 30usd portapros.
