I have a Compaq Presario 2500 and the the tip of the cord from the powersupply the plugs directly into the laptop gets very hot. This is my second cord because the plastic part in the first one started smoking and then melted. If anyone has any ideas it would help alot. Thanks

This sounds like a problem with your systemboard. Anything electronic that starts to smoke is not a good thing. If you had to replace the cable already, then there could be some other issue other than the cable causing the problem. Iooks like the AC connector on the board is starting to fry, possibly it has loosened from the systemboard and it starting to ARC. I'd recommend getting it fixed before your units dies completely, maybe even cause a fire.
