Hi guys,
I bough the Lapinator and Mousitizer for $34.95 + S/H.
WEbsite: http://www.lapinator.com/
What is the Lapinator?
It's basically an insulated lap device that holds your laptop and prevents unwanted heat from reaching your lap.
What is the Mousitizer?
It similar to the Lapinator except it is not padded at the bottom and it attached to the right or left of the Lapinator.
Reasons for searching for one?
I wanted something similar to the Xpad which is basically the same thing except it elevates it more. I do a lot of notebook activities on my lap, and it gets hot frequently. So lately I've been using one of those thick 100CD holder binders to place between my lap and notebook. However, that was too bulky and big to place in my backpack, so I needed to get something that would fit in my bag. No i did not want a cooler either as it consumes power from the USB ports to power it. In addition, those all seem a bit small, and from the reviews it seems I was right.
Review of Lapinator
The lapinator's top is made of a plastic material whereas the bottom feels like soft padded thick foam. As I'm typing right now, my CPU temp is at 58-59 degrees Celsius. Before when I place it on my binder it would be at 60 Celsius. However take that as a grain of a salt if you will. I don't think the bumpers at the rear really help my notebook. I own the Asus W3J and heat vents out the right instead of the bottom so it will be different in your scenario.
Ive had this on my lap now for 2 hours. My thighs feel slightly warm but that might be just because something has been sitting on my lap for a while. It feels sturdy but a bit flimsy at times.
REview of Mousitizer
I bought this because I was hoping my new Logitech VX Revolution would come in the mail around the same time. I was far off, so I didn't really have a chance to try it out. Overall, the pad feels sturdy when you put a little extra weight. It also contains padding around the pad to prevent the mouse from slipping.
COnclusion
In the end, i like 'em both a lot.
My only gripes are:
- wish the top of the Lapinator felt more sturdy
- it's a bit expensive for what it is
- doesn't really cool temps all that well
What I love:
- comfortable on the lap
- can add optional mouse pad to the right and it's sturdy
- lightweight
- good alternate "lapdesk". The size fits my W3J perfectly with room o spare in the front and back.

Well... as for your gripe about it not cooling... it's not advertised as a cooling pad, it's advertized as an insulator -- to keep you cool, which it sounds like its doing.

im not really griping im just stating what I experienced. When it sits on top of the bumpers, it's suppose to allow the hot air from underneath the laptop to kinda spread out and maybe cool it a little bit (kinda like how if you spread your legs open
).
anyhow i like it alot. It's what i was looking for except i wish the mat was more firm and not as flexible as it is.
oh yeah and if anything sounds incoherent, i wrote that half asleep.
