I'm not sure if this is the proper forum but perhaps someone can help. Here's a question I posed on the Dell forum. Since they don't appear to be very active, I'd like to ask here...

I've recently installed a new Dell black ink cartridge and I'm getting a dotted black underline when I print text. I've tried unsuccessfully several times to realign the cartridge automatically and once manually although I couldn't distinguish which number was darker to make the manual adjustment.

Rather than trying to install another brand new cartridge, do I have any other options. Will Dell replaced my defective cartridge?

I've attached a scan of the problem.

Found my answer. I changed out the new cartridge for another new cartridge! At $20 something a pop, I think I'll call Dell.

There should be a "clean cartridge function" which attemps to clear the nozzles, and make the cartridge heads more accurate.
