If I'm looking for printers for university, what do you think are the best options? (I'm really clueless on the subject). I would like to keep the prince range <$200 (hopefully cheapter).
I like the look of wireless printers; does anyone have any experience with them? What do they use as a power supply (i.e. if they're bluetooth).
I also was looking @ laser printers; are there any real advantages to those for a university student (I don't really need to print professional-looking photos or anything).

lasers> well, they're bulkier, and they might emit small particles (from the toner), not really suited for a small dorm room
just get a cheap printer.... doesn't really matter for a college student... Staples/OM/OD often have printers cheap or almost free (they get you at the ink replacements)
wireless printers: not really worth it... unless your printer is far away from your laptop(then get a long USB cable), or you are sharing the printer in a suite and placing the printer in the common area...
get an account at http://slickdeals.net ... people often post when cheap printers come on sale -
I would really consider getting a laser printer if you will be printing a lot of documents. The cheaper ones <$70 are just black and white and are sort of bulky but well worth it if you will be printing quite a bit.

even if you buy a laser one it will be much more cheapper if you just print them at a local store. and it will have a much better quality too.
I stopped long ago from buying printers. consumer level ones are very expensive and the price per page is completely absurd.
Now I just have a very low end printer for small works and such. -

if you get cheap paper (staples has paper for $0.02 after rebate next week), and refill your ink or get a cheap printer(think i saw a laser going for $30 on staples, think it was a 600 yield toner... that's 5 cents a page... and you can print whevener -
Actually, we can print all we want (for free) in-dorm (a walk down the hallway, I think); therefore, I might do some rough draft printing from my printer, but the vast majority of that will be on a university printer down the hallway.
Final copies will be printed from my printer for quality purposes; in addition, I may do some light photo editing/printing, but, as I said, nothing professional-looking. -
I would get a cheap laser versus an ink printer. Ink printers can be cheaper to run, but it sucks to deal with dry or clogged ink cartridges, especially when you're printing at the last minute. Replacement toner cartridges can be expensive, so it'd probably be best to buy a new one and try to sell the old printer on craigslist. I just sold a really old laser printer on craigslist for $20 with parallel cable and all, so let's say you can sell a pretty new one for at least double that. Buy a bargain printer like the cheapie below for $70 shipped. Sell it for $40, find $30 for a replacement printer.

lexmark wifi printers - best bang for the buck
i use an old Z2420 & X4650 -
Well, I ended up getting one as a graduation present - http://www.shopping.hp.com/product/printer/Officejet/1/storefronts/CB815A%2523B1H
Is this overkill? (should I return it for $140 and get a cheaper printer and take the $60 or so difference)?
It takes three color cartridges, which was scary to me (initially), but given the fact that it seems to be able to print a fair amount AND given the fact that I won't be printing much color, it seems fair.
Any thoughts? -
I'd get the HP deskjet 6940 or 6988 (the 88 is the same thing in black with wireless). I've had one at home and am loving it.
It looks like the printer you got may just be a little large for a dorm room or w/e. -
Color cartridges always dry out on me if I don't use them.
