As some of you may know I have the HP Photosmart 7510 and I was going to print some pictures out to compare HP ink and HP photo paper to after market ink and paper. My question is should i have ICH color controlled by host or printer. Default is host but shouldn't printer control colors?

No, especially if you are comparing the quality of two printers. You want the source to be identical (ie. the colour profile...etc). So you can actually compare the quality difference between the two printers.

i know that but i am not comparing colors. My question is which would have the best color accuracy my computer or the printer? Isn't the printer made to produce the right colors from its own color layout?

bump johnny do you understand at what i am getting at? Doesn't HP make the laptop to print accurately from its own color layout/pallet?

How can the printer know better than the computer what color you want each color to be?

pictures have a set color scheme and the printer interprets it by its color layout but if my computer for whatever reason has a color layout that is not accurate then prints will be inaccurate. The printers layout is made by HP so i would assume they made it to print accurately with the printers ink. Like a monitor and my gpu. They need to be calibrated for accuracy...they are not perfect from default so i am wondering if the printer has been calibrated for accuracy and maybe my computer is not accurate. Do you understand what I am saying? I have no idea color scheme or color layout is the technical term but i think you get the picture

You can try both and compare the differences. That means you are printing 4 images instead of 2, so it doesn't matter.

when comparing different inks you need to have in mind that there's many different inks on the market. there's worse and better then hp inks.
also you can't compare recycled cartridges because on a recycled one the printheads (only if it has built-in printheads) are used so the quality of the printing will be worse.

I recommend inktec ink that's what I use (I've spent 10liters) and it's better then hp ink in both pigmented and dye based inks.
not to mention. 98% cheaper if you buy in bulk.

where do u get it? I live in the US. I am trying 4inkjets right now...i mean its on order. It is made by LD products...is this it?

i bought one on everypage to try and post my results for people to see if it can save them money

Hewlett Packard (HP) PhotoSmart 7510 Ink Cartridges and Printing Supplies - 4inkjets

Also i am asking what color layouts are better...printer or laptop. Printer layout i would assume would be designed for itself...i can see that the laptops color layour could be different but i dont know.

If I were you I'd stick with the printer color pallet when accuracy really matters. I'm also pretty sure Hp ink/paper combination will be superior to any off brand compounds.

The negatives are the higher cost. But that too can be lessened if you shop around and buy in bulk.

Neither do I, but I would like to find out since I have their printer as well. Many manufactures have that integration between its products that you alluded to and it would be nice to know if HP makes their products to work together.

No. It just makes what you see more in-line with what prints.

yea but calibrating the screen changes the gpu color layout from what i have been told so wouldn't that screw up prints?

No. You can play with all the monitor setting you want, but it does not change the color of the pixels stored in the file you want to print. All the calibration does is try to make what is displayed more accurately match the colors in the file.

It is not going to change the color of anything you print. How you choose to display colors on your computer does not do anything to the images stored on your computer.

interesting...the software in windows made it sound that the computers color layout interpreted colors of files for printing.
