First off, I wasn't exactly sure where to post this. I guess I can talk about monitor problems here? Its not necessarily the monitor, its the VGA adapter.

Every so often, a light green tint will slowly appear over the screen. After this happened a few times, I discovered it wasn't a driver problem, and it had to do with the vga port/adapter thing. I noticed it wasn't totally inside the port on the M17x, so I pushed it in a little more. That fixed it, for now.

But this is still happening. It doesn't become loose as much, but the green tint still seems to overlay the screen at times, sometimes so lightly that its only noticeable on white. This is extremely annoying, because im always paranoid of whether or not theres green tint. Moving the wire near the port on my M17x seems to "adjust" the green tint, sometimes making it go away, sometimes making it worse.

I have a sort of cramped desk space where my M17x and monitor goes, so that could be putting pressure on the vga port...

When these things happen, it is usually related to a loose VGA connection. It sounds like you already figured this out.

The problem is most commonly related to the VGA cable. I would recommend that you try replacing the VGA cable you are using with a different one, and see if that helps. Either the cable itself may be faulty, or it may just not be making a good connection because of its size/shape.

If replacing the cable does not help, then the problem is related to the VGA ports / connectors on either the laptop or your monitor. If you need to test them, then I would recommend using known-good devices to test. For example, connect your monitor to another device with VGA output, and connect your laptop to another monitor with VGA input. If it is indeed the VGA ports on your monitor or laptop giving you problems, then you will need to look into getting the faulty unit repaired or replaced.

It sounds like one or more of the connections is not registering? Tantamount to unplugging one of the BLUE/RED/GREEN plugs in component connector.
Also, let this be lesson to all laptop owner: ALL these connections are very fragile and can easily be damaged if you use gorilla mitts on them. TAKE CARE when plugging/unplugging ALL you laptop cables, components and devices!
