When I got my lappy a year ago I bought one of the Microsoft optical wireless notebook mice that was available at the time and liked it a lot. The problem is that on my computer all of my usb ports are over the heat vent on the right side so when I would try to use the mouse during the summer for games it would get a spotty signal after a while. I did some experimenting and figured out this had to be the combination of heat being pumped out of the computer and the heat of the summer. I ended up just going out and buying a cheap wired mouse and the problem was solved.

The thing is that I have had my eye on getting either a VX revolution or one of the Microsoft laser 6000 mice and ditching the corded one. Before dropping the money that either of those cost I was wondering if anyone knew how they would respond to heat. Was it just an isolated case with the older mouse or will the heat mess with the signal of any mouse?

I've never heard of a wireless mouse crapping out because of heat. Doesn't mean your case isn't happen'in.

I just got a VX, nice mouse, US$35 after $20 rebate through Amazon. The offer is over but I'd guess something similar may be back.

I don't think I'll ever buy another M$ mouse. I ____ don't like them. I've purchased at least two. Both optical, one corded one wireless. And, well, would you buy a "good" cordless drill, for instance, from Ford? M$ is trading on their rep and that's a poor reason IMO.

I kinda like my USB wireless Microsoft 3000 mouse. It fits my tiny hands and plus at least for me it works for Counter Strike Source + Quake 4!

I might play a little now in fact.

nvr happened to me b4 and havent heard something like this occur. But if it did happen and does occur on ur laptop u might as well play it safe and try not to overheat ur laptop when using ur wireless mouse. You could always try a notebook cooler as well to lower heat.

Thanks for responding, I'm beginning to think that it may simply be an isolated case with this mouse. It isn't like the lappy itself was getting too hot but I think the combination of ~80F temperatures and the amount of heat this thing does turn out (which isn't much it's pretty cool)that it could have been a problem, I haven't run into it again during the winter but I still like having more than just three buttons.
I think I'll prob spring for the VX, I had a chance to use one in a store the other day and I liked it a lot. Just have to get the right price now :D
