Ok, it finally arrived. I mounted up my laptop on the Zalman NC 1000 and guess what? STILL NO TEMPERATURE CHANGES! Im really getting irritated right now because ive spent over 60$ and it wont cool anything! temperatures are the exact same as before.
There is only a slight gap between the cooler
I really think this thing can cool my laptop ...maybe im doing something wrong?
-
Interesting. I am currently looking into buying a Zalman NC series cooler aswell.
May I ask how wide your laptop is and how well it fits.
cheers -
my laptop is 15.4" ...the cooler is slightly smaller. it fits well
-
Can you feel it pushing out cool air? Have you messed with the fan speeds?
-
There is cold air, i have done no tweaking to the fan speeds (that were not suppose to be done )
-
How are you monitoring your temps?
-
with CPUID.
I used to use my laptop with its battery stand before i started using the cooler
I dont use the battery stand with my cooler (the stand gave a slight tilt on the laptop which gave it more air circulation).
Should i use the battery stand with the latpop on the cooler? It will make a bigger gap =\ -
Are you sure your laptop sucks air from below and not blows it out from below?
-
Well i took the liberty of taking a thin piece of paper and holding it up to the vent....the bottom SUCKS air in and the sides blow out.
Unless i am mentally retarded, i dont think i got it wrong. -
You need one of these to cool your system, and make it fly.
I used to use this with my Dell Insprion 8500, and it would hover.
Nothing like 1034cfm of air volume,

You may want to try and get your laptop to sit as flat as possible on the cooling pad.

I own a NC1000 and I find I get about a 3c drop in temperature. The only real benefit I've noticed is that my notebook's internal fans don't kick on as often, which is a good thing since the NC1000 is a lot quieter.
However I've read some people getting drops around 7c or so. I'm kinda with you... whether if its something we're doing wrong or just the difference is cooling in different notebooks. -
I think it really depends on the layout of the laptops components and its natural ability to expel heat.
-
nizzy1115 how would you say the nc2000 would affect a vostro 1500? is it worth the cash? 56$?

Cooler master Notepal Infinite is better.
-
nocturnal no offence, but this thread is not about Cool master infinite. its about me asking help for my cooling pad. Plz stay on topic
And second, i would like to know, if i put in the battery onto the laptop cooler, would that help? my laptop would have a larger gap between the base and the cooler itself -
nocturnal - Thank-you for pointing me toward another cooler - I have been wanting to get a better cooler & this thread has convinced me to not get a Zalman. miscolobo - no offence intended but it is customary - at least from what I have seen - for posters to make recommendations about another product if the OP is unhappy with the first product mentioned. But, this is "your" thread - please be gentle with me!!
-
@miscolobo...why not just try the battery thing? Its no harm trying hehe, also...are there any dust blocking the vents?
@all others.....notepal infinite review in sig... -
Just orderd my NC200b (kinda) I forced the guy over the phone to pricematch
even though he said hes not allowed w00t
-
ummm The Zalman NC1000 is good...its just a personal issue with me lol... ive used a vacuum and i ran it around the cooler and my notebook...going to see how it goes :S..
-
What i meant was open up the notebook and clean out the dust in the fan blades etc...
-
I'd like to mention that the NC1000 is extremely quite, and that is definitely one its benefits. My previous cooler which was a Vantec model is like a lawn mower is comparison with the NC1000.
So if noise distraction is an issue for you than this is a great cooler for you. -
I dont know though...is this an issue with my notebook or the cooler? i know that 1,500 RPM isnt alot of power but still....its suppose to cool my notebook atleast by 1 degree celcius. I really need cooling and i dont intend on buying another one because this is the 2nd one that i had and it is VERY expensive. I need to figure out a way to make this work
-
-
just a question for the NC1000 users,
Have any of you guys used this cooler with a XPS1530? How was your experience with this cooler? -
Find the hotspots on the bottom part of your laptop. make sure the fan is blowing air into the hotspots accordingly.
I have a 6cm fan just below my HDD vent. Definately noticable up to 7c cooler. I can actually feel the cool air getting blown go warm when my HDD is stressed out
As for GPU/CPU i only noticed about 3-4c. So it was overall an average of 5c cooler. I didnt really expect the cooler to do much for the GPU/CPU mainly because they are internal parts and theres plastic housing them. Which means heat dissipation from beneath isnt that great
Keep in mind i only have a $10 cooler from ebay but the fan placements is perfect for my laptop -
Well accually, the Zalman NC1000 is not a kind of cooler that has very noticable air blowing power into the vent because it is only 1,500RPM and the cold air is distributed into 600+ holes. And johnny T, i will get a camera and take pictures asap

I just bought the refined and upgraded Targus chill mat from Best Buy for $30. The Packaging says 28% more cooling from I guess the original one that is reviewed all over the internet that has the same name as the new Targus (Tornado) Chill Mat. I think it's an awesome product, although like you I don't see it cooling my system when I use rivatuner system monitor or nvidia monitor, it stays at 60c idle, the same without the cooler on and sometimes it goes up a degree more with the cooler. I feel the fans going and I know for sure that there's way better air circulating under my toshiba x205 sli1 which sucks air in from the bottom and blows it out the sides. The new Chill mat blows air up into the bottom of the laptop as opposed to sucking air down and away from the laptop which I suspect supposedly would benefit my model. I was discouraged when I bought it and saw no temp change, but I guess it helps when gaming, from keeping temps skyrocketing or just to know I got the little bit of help circulating air and not hearing the notebooks fan turn on as much keeping it from more wear and tear, so I guess your Zalman IS doing it's job even if it's hard to confirm otherwise from the temp but be glad we at least have a fan blowing the bottom of the laptop as opposed to nothing at all.
-
i am not a fan of targus chill mats
my experiences with them
cheaply made, poor performance, breaks after a short while. -
steggy like I said this is the new and improved targus chill mat, if you google targus chill mat it's all old reviews of the previous one try and look for reviews of the chill mat as of feburary of this year 2008. I guess Targus took into account all the complaints of the previous chill mat and remedied it for this new model, I like it. Oh and miscolobo I don't think laptop coolers say they'll drop the cpu or gpu temps, after writing this post I read the packaging of the claim targus makes of the chill mat it reads "Chill Mat protects LAP and WORKSPACE from notebook heat, while cooling fans HELP MAXIMIZE PERFORMANCE by SUPPLYING cool air to the notebook". I purposely capitalized what I think they try to convey what the chill mat is for. One more thing Steggy, I like the portability of the chill mat it's very light, fits into my laptop briefcase and I think this version is much tougher and sturdier than the last.
