today i bought a brand new Zalman Nc-2000..It works fine , the fans speed is adjustable, everything working fine... but it doesnt cool down my XPS M1530(which i just bought a couple of days), when my laptop is on , CPU temperature shown 56°C , but when i adjust the fan speed to highest speed , it still shown 56°C ~58°C...i'm from Malaysia and it's hot here about 32°C ++ on day...is it cooling pad doesnt work on this hot weather country ? or there is something wrong with my zalman nc-2000 ? because after i turn it on , i just can barely feel the wind blowing out when i put my hand on it, i thought it is normal because it's running from USB ( which is 5V only)... so what do you guys think ? :( :( :(

(PS' i tried many hardware monitor program like NHC(notebook hardware control , everest,CPUID etc ... they show me the same temperature)

I have noticed people with XPS M1530 notice less of a temperature change in CPU, check graphics and hdd/

Try touching the bottom of the laptop. If it feels cool then its doing its job. If the bottom is cool the somthing inside is also being cooled.

With 32C you will notice less effect. Try turning a aircon on and settle room temp below 28C

First off are you sure its a genuine Zalman.

Check temps with RMclock, HDtune and Riva tuner before and after cooler YOU MUST GIVE TIME BETWEEN THE TESTS!

Just a question - how can you tell how hot your laptop is? I know you can feel it by hand but, what I'm driving at is there a gauge somewhere to get the exact temperature.
    I have a Dell 1501
    Thank you

I experienced the same thing with my Zalman NC1000. This was fixed however, by positioning the laptop such that the vents were aligned over the holes on the cooler. You may want to try that.
