I personally use a backpack/book bag from REI.

I can wear it with one strap ofver either shoulder or with both straps if I need to carry it a long ways. It has a padded internal sleeve for my eMachines 6809, which is not that much smaller than the HP DV8000 series and about the same weight.

There are lots of pockets to put accessories and there is a large compartment on the bottom that I use for power bricks, etc.

I like the fact that it doesn't LOOK like a computer bag, so theft is less of an issue.

I needed to work remotely in anoher office today; here's a list of what's in my bag:

    1. eMachines 6809
    2. Power brick and wires for above
    3. Western Digital 80GB external USB drive
    4. Brick for above
    5. Plug-in strip for everything to plug into with 8' cord.
    6. Ethernet cable
    7. Cell phone power adapter
    8. Mouse
    9. Legal pad
    10. Clearprint pad
    11. Various pens, pencils, etc.
    12. USB PDA sync cable

Virtually an office in a bag.
