Can 2.1 speakers ( I have logitech z3 ) play dolby surround sound?

Also, i know that they can't play DTS, but when i play a HD movie with DTS sound, the sound is playing normal. Why?

Can someone help me? I'm very confused!

It's the WMPC that can play the DTS sound? It's hardware only?

True Dolby surround...? No! You need a minimum of four speakers for that. What you're getting is Dolby's patented decoding to stereo (the number of speakers/channels you have). The center channel/speaker, merely combines those two signals.
Because that's the way it's designed. In absence of the patented speaker and decoding configuration, the all default to stereo.
