Just got this drive and I am incredibly impressed. I never realized a premium flash drive could be so much faster then my last flash drive which was some cheap PNY 4GB from walmart.

First the drive doesn't just come with the drive. It comes with a long extension cable about 12 inches long and a lanyard as well which is really nice bonus. It is built like a tank. All metal and a decent amount of weight. It's also very large for a flash drive maybe 5 inches long but this isnt a problem with the extension cable which is really nice if you have limited space right next to the port.

So for the speed difference. I had 3 700MB movies i timed how long each transfer took on the survivor gtr it took 1 min 17 seconds for 2.1GB which works out to about 29MB/sec now for the 4GB walmart PNY drive it took a huge 3 min 7 seconds which works out to about 11MB/sec.

The results speak for themselves. The survivor GTR smoked it by more than double the speed. And I would hope it did becase the survivor gtr 32GB cost 125 with shipping. The 4GB PNY drive was only 12 dollars from walmart. I guess the saying is true you get what you pay for.

Also that packaging says the survivor GTR is made of aircraft aluminum, extremely shock resistant and can survive a depth of 200m of water without failing. It has wear leveling technology and each sector lasts 100,000 writes which the wear leveling evenly writes over each sector to maximize the life of the drive. Comes with a 10 year warranty.

Anyone in need of a flash drive I really have to highly recommend looking into this product. I don't think you will find a faster flash drive untill usb 3.0 flash drives take over and you won;t find another drive more rugged or durable period. Not many people have a notebook with a usb 3.0 port though.

In conclusion this is the best flash drive I have ever owned in my life. And until I have a USB 3.0 setup I will not be purchasing another flash drive.

If you have any additional questions about this drive I'd be happy to answer them. Thanks for reading.

Im kinda considering this drive, i hate all my current flash drives, specially tranfering 15gb when i do clean installs takes more than half an hour to upload it, but at $109 still has me thinking... i could go with hdd and esata external enclosure and end up being much faster even, but i know, not all have esata ports and the drive performs really well, so still thinking about it.

and a hard drive that is esata requires external AC power + the esata cable so it is 2 cables with a power brick and is alot bigger and it cannot be used on the go unless AC power is available. This drive performa pretty close to a hard drive on esata and it uses simple usb 2.0 connection no external power is is way way smaller. I'm almost certain this maxes out the usb 2.0 ports capabilities, I dont think there is a faster usb 2.0 flash drive.

uh...negative batman. i have a 2.5" portable drive in an enclosure that is esata and usb. when using esata connection i have to plug it into the usb port for power, but that doesnt bother me and the enclosure was only 20 bucks.

yea i just saw you can get those enclosures does suck it takes 2 ports up tho especially if you got a mouse and keyboard connected to 2 already some laptops only have 3 ports some 4 either you wont have enough ports or you'll have none left but other then that its a cool idea. Still not nearly as portable as a flash drive hangin off your keychain.

I saw a supertalent usb 3.0 drive called the raiddrive but it was super expensive. 300+MB/sec read speeds tho. They have a cheaper usb 3.0 drive that cost almost the same as this corsair gtr did but its usb 2.0 performance is worse then the gtr's and every computer i use has usb 2.0 not 3.0 so i'd be stuck with lower speeds just to eventually have 3.0 capabilities. So I'll stick with this drive for 3-4 years till usb 3.0 is more spread out.
