I just wanted to share this coupon currently available at Newegg for the Razer Tron gaming mouse which I find very cool.
Newegg Promo Code for the Razer Tron Gaming mouse.

Ah. A mouse that offers no better performance than other gaming-grade mice. But comes with useless features like colored LED's and flashy marketing to convince people that it is somehow a superior mouse.
Cue the Razer fanboys to come and say that this is the best mouse ever made... it must be, if Razer made it, right? /s -

How many mice does Razer introduce every month? Every time I come into this forum someone is asking about some new Razer mouse product.
-
Well, it's good marketing. I'll give 'em that. When they release a new product, people pay attention and talk about it.
-
Like that other company based on fruit...
This is one of the few they have released that really caught my eye though, I loved the movie though so I think its pretty cool.
Not gonna pay $100 for it, but its pretty cool. -

Hey beat me to comparing razer to apple lol..
I feel the same way, more expensive than the norm, nothing really better than the rest, sold mostly on fashion and popularity.
Alienware is similar as well and actually probably the better match for a lot of Razers flashy products.
The tron mouse nothing fancy, but if your going to get it, may as well buy the overpriced mouse pad too so you get the whole package even though I find the glow to be very weak and dissapointing, my daughters $10 glowdoodle playset works better.
Razer should have used a ultra violet led instead of white under the mouse to get a stronger glow and a better look to boot. -
Why all the hate and assumptions from some people? :/ Okay, so Razer doesn't make the cheapest mice on the market. But they make good ones, and some of us like them. I use Windows-based PC's and I don't much care for Macs, but you don't see me going into every Apple thread to say their computers are no better than any cheaper brand and call everyone a fanboy.
Personally, I really have no interest in the Tron mouse or mousepad. I'm generally not a fan of promotional products, and I don't care for their Starcraft II line either. Same goes for stuff like the World of Warcraft mouse. The Tron thing looks cool (and the movie was awesome), but it doesn't look all that comfortable. I'm fine with aesthetics; hell, I enjoy them (obviously, since I'm a blindly brand-loyal fanboy who bought my Mamba for the flashy lights and gold-plated USB plug, according to some people here), but I don't like when it eclipses function. -

No hate from me, I am using my Orochi as we speak. I am just stating the obvious
Even from the standard overpricing of Razer products this one is just over the top, $90.00 at newegg?.....
Im sure thats due to licensing cost and things, but still you better be some kind of Tron fanatic to buy this or else your wasting your money. -
I'm sure the laser components required to transport you into the Grid also weren't cheap.
End of line. -

This is the only mouse from the lineup that I haven't owned, this and the starcraft mouse. I have a co-worker who has one here in the office and I just don't like the feel of it. It seems completely out of left field when compared to their other mice.
I prefer the shape of the naga/mamba and orochi. -
^ what he said, it does look pretty sick, but it looks like it would be super uncomfortable. compared to the mamba and the deathadder, that would be like scrolling with a small brick IMO

I agree entirely. It seems like a certain invidual(s) scan the forums for Razer posts, to come bash on the company. The company is doing what a company does, marketing a product. They are successful in that right. They sell high quality peripherals for users, and do a good job marketing them. I've owned many of their products, and have loved them all. Logitech, and others make good mice, but Razer does too. Sure they charge more, but you get more in the process. Now, all of these things aren't purely performance oriented (Lights, and the "gold plating" is questionable), but they don't deceive anyone with what they do. Look at it this way, if you were to go get your car washed, and they asked you if you'd like to have your wheels polished for an additional $10, would you do it? It has NO bearing on the performance of your car, but it makes the car look better, and to some, that's all the justification that is needed.
It's got to be a chore to find every Razer post and spew negativity at every product. It's worse than Pc Vs. Mac oftentimes around here. Put it to rest. -

It's just that Razer releases a new product like every three days and people go and buy it even if it's just another mouse dressed up and pay a little over the top prices for quality that is no better than Logitech or Microsoft mice.
It's almost as if it's cool and people only buy them for that reason, to have a Razer as opposed to a Logitech or Microsoft product even if the latter two companies offer similar, competing products for the same or lower prices.
Also the fact that we need a new thread for every dressed up variation of a Razer product, I mean come on.
No hard feelings, just my humble opinion.

The fact that you claim Razer sells a "high quality" product is debatable. I've owned Razer mice before and they've all failed in their own way with limited use.
If Razer markets a mouse with a gold plated USB connector, there must be a reason, right? Why else would Razer claim this to be a "feature" on their site if in fact it was merely a throwaway marketing gimmick?
The fact of the matter is that it is an insinuation of a "feature" intended to promote the idea that gold plated USB connectors are somehow superior to standard plated connectors (which they are not). In the end, it would appear that Razer is indeed deceiving consumers.
Check out the following link; it's a pretty interesting read: Do Gold USB Connectors Matter?
Here's an excerpt:
The difference being, of course, that the chrome on your wheels can be easily seen and appreciated by a discerning passerby, while a blinged out, gold plated USB connector is hidden from view, tucked safely away in a USB port. Which begs the question: If the gold plated USB connector can't be seen when used, and the plating offers no perceivable (or otherwise) gain in gaming performance, then why is Razer marketing it as a feature? Why even include it then?
Not at all. Some people take exception to the fact that a few members exhibit a knee jerk reaction to recommending Razer products, regardless of the content of the post/thread. And for every, dare I say it, Razer fanboy here at NBR, there's at least one member who attempts to set the record straight. -
I suppose I can only speak for myself, but in the past I've owned a Logitech MX518, G9, and Microsoft Sidewinder before settling on my first DeathAdder. They were all excellent mice, I just found the DeathAdder to have the best ergonomics for me (and by extension, my Mamba that has the same shape).
Sounds like bad luck. My 2007 DeathAdder is still going strong according to the person I gifted it to last year, as are all the other products I own (DA 3,500, Mamba, Orochi, Carcharias).
The point is, who does it hurt? It may not be any better than a standard USB connector, but it's certainly not any worse. Marketing sells products, and all companies do it.
-
Like a broken record, you make the same arguments, but fail to see the bigger picture. There's an added cost to gold plating those connectors, and if you aren't aware of the price of gold these days, it's worth pointing out that current gold prices are just under $1,400 USD per ounce.
Extrapolate that into how many mice Razer sells in a year, and you can quickly see how the perceived benefits of gold plated USB connectors is only adding a needless cost to the end product. This is especially true when gold plating offers zero (0) performance benefit in doing so in this particular application.
I would expect nothing less, brand loyalty is important. However, that would only apply to those who don't try to beat the same brand/product into people ad nauseum. -

What do you know, the orochi has gold plated usb lol never noticed.
I totally do not care, I just care about ergonomics, performance and price.
Brand, fashion, bling do not matter. Sometimes I would avoid a product that is too flashy because it would not fit in well with a professional environment.
