I'm using a G9 right now and have been since last January. I even wrote a favorable review for the G9 a few weeks ago. However, I have had some problems with the G9 in the last few weeks. One thing is that the slick feet on the bottom have completely worn away. I have been unable to find a replacement.

So I've been doing the unthinkable for a Logitech fanboy like myself. I've been taking a very close look at the Razer Deathadder. It looks pretty good, the right size and shape. And I herd that you can get replacement feet for it. Is that true? How does the Razer Deathadder stack up against the G9? I'm going to use it for general use and gaming. Mostly FPS and RTS.

You've had it for 6 months and you wore the feet down already? Is your mousing surface made of sandpaper?

What about the G9 grip replacement? Some of the feet are on that, so maybe replacing that will help.

i have both the g9 and the death adder. i have to admit i love using the death adder alot more than my g9. the death adder fits into my hand so much better and it feels more comfortable to use. from my personal expierence i would recommend the death adder over the g9.

i dont know anything about the replaceable mouse feet though. i know the sidewinder from microsoft has mouse feet you can swap out.

I'm a Razer nut, so obviously my opinion may be a bit biased, but the Deathadder is without a doubt, the best mouse I have ever owned. I have the Diamondback, Copperhead, and Deathadder currently, and this is trounces all of the others without a doubt.

Here is the review I wrote on it awhile back if you are interested.

I've used 3 different mats with it. The first one was just a regular mouse pad. Like what you would pick up for $5 at Wal-Mart. The second one was an Allsop hard mouse pad. Sorry, I don't know which one in particular. And for the last few weeks I have been using a large piece of wax paper taped to my desk. :D And I must say, the wax paper is by far the best! ;)

Sorry, the grip idea won't work. There are 2 feet on the G9 and they're both for crap. One of the grips has a small patch on the side, but it doesn't do much. A good thought though.

G9 mouse feet are $2 dollars.

You could either get some aftermarket mouse feet tape, replace the mouse feet or buy another mouse.

Death Adder mouse feet are really small though and if you are wearing through G9's huge pads I don't see Death Adder being any better.

    I love Logitech products myself.

I have a G3,G5,G9 and a Death Adder. I'd use any of the G series mice over the Death Adder :p

DeathAdder is a professional gamers mouse which has a very expensive and 3G IR sensor.

for casual & enthusiastic gamer ..Deathadder doesnt have many advantages...even spare parts of deathadder like feet are expensive.

so get Logitech.. logitech makes great mice for Gaming at home.

I'd think the DeathAdder would be the perfect mouse if only it had On-the-fly DPI switch and better Vista drivers. It fits perfectly in your hand, and has a nice grip. Too bad though :(

You could also take a look at the razer diamondback 3g, it's basically a cheaper ambidextrous deathadder. I've been looking really hard and can't seem to find much difference in the specs of the two mice, except that the diamondback 3g has more buttons and a different design.

In the end I really think that the best choice is to buy new mousefeet for your g9, simce it is cheaper than buying a whole new mouse.

I own both a Death Adder and G9 (along with a few others lol), and the Ikari Steel Series Laser is the best I've used to date:

    http://www.steelseries.com/int/products/mice/ikari_laser/information

Good ergonomics, driverless operation, 1-3200 cpi at 1-tic increment adjustability, LED display, etc. Blows my other mice away, and I have a lot of different models.

EDIT: between the Death Adder and G9... Both are excellent mice. However, the G9 grip shells had a bit of play / flex, and I had to use felt adhesive pads to remove the slack. The Death Adder is very comfortable as-is, but lacks hardware-dpi switching.

I have a Deathadder, and it is the best mouse I've ever used. And I've used plenty of Logitech (incl. the gamer ones).

the steelseries Ikari is the only real "pro gamer" mouse if your going to toss that word around.. the rest are just typical high Dpi guts and a hole lot of marketing.

but it really dep what u are doing.. if u play alot of RPG RTS or MMO.. a MX518/G5 is prob your best bet due to its 8/7 resp programmable buttons inc wheel. if your fps i would opt for the Ikari with out question. The macro features in the Ikari are handy for slipping past tournament rules.. however if u just play at home its not really a feature as u can do the same thing with pure software.

It has a program that works with vista x64, + you can change the DPI with the program. Personally I have the dpi set at one setting, and change the sensitivity in each game accordingly.

I seriously didn't know that was even an option to get spare feet for my G9. Thank you!

After market tape? How does that work? Where would I buy such a thing?
