Looking for a Razer macro genus to help with a puzzle.

I want to create a macro to hold DOWN a key.

In this case, I want to hold down the CTRL key (either) and then either click it again to unpress it, or use another button to unpress it.

The macro program allows me to create "press ctrl" macros, but its instant and doesn't stay down.

I note that the program DOES differentiate between down and up, but I cannot get the macro to STAY down.

You have read my mind, assuming I have one, hehe. I have great difficult in getting the macro facility of Lachesis mouse programmed. I basically needed two macro function to work consisitently, for button 1 a macro to activite a sequence of f1 f2 f3 f4 and the second mouse button for Ctril+F1 Ctrl+F2 Ctrl+f3 Ctrl+4. The first macro seems to work but not reliable. The second does not work, I believe that the macro programme send the key sequence as ctrl, f1, ctrl
f2 ..... I really need the macro to send like ctrl key pressed together with F1 key as a single key stroke (CTRL+F1, Ctrl+F2......).

I think its a great mouse, it will make it even a better one if the macro works. I like to use this mouse with M17 alienware laptop with the macros working as i wanted it will be a brilliant combination to any gamer. At the moment is just a responsive mouse.

I asked for technical support from Razer as written above above and here is the reply:

The websearch is also pretty bleak wasteland on this subject and I am hope as you said Razer Macro Genius can help. I know that a specific keys like Ctrl+w can be assigned mainly its a defined keystroke. So was hoping this last ditch here to resolve this issue ( praying for Miracle) really :)), I fully support your question and I do wonder why the macro function is not fully utitlised from the citations received on how wonderful the mouse is. I can concurr its a great mouse but it will be the greater mouse if I can get the macro useable as lead to believe.

Switch subject, I was thinking of buying the Mamba mouse. Cost big bucks too. I suspect the macro on the Mamba mouse will the same lvl of usefullness as the Lachesis and was wondering if any of the owners of Mamba can tell me if they can programme the Mamba macro to the above. The above are the sequence for firing all launchers on my Golem in Eve (f1 f2 f3 f4) and the Ctrl+F1 etc switches on the shields and hardners automatically. I can use my programmable keyboard on my desktop but recent acquitions for desktop replacement my Alienware M17 (for mobility purposes) kind of make me search for a mouse with strong maco funtions instead. Thought the Lachesis will do the job, my fault for not searching specifically for a responsive mouse with a strong requirement in macros.

I kind of lost hope on the Lachesis or Any Razer mouse on the macro front as well. Imagine technical support points you to forum for support rather then them tells me a million implications. Mind you the forum they pointed me to is brilliant miles better then their website but I hit a pretty sparse information on this subject with them too. Any one can recommend a responsive mouse with a strong macro programmability? Apologies in reading the above KernalPanic if you feel disappointed too. I am hoping we find a miracle worker too.

That sounds particularly difficult and a pain to establish >.<

I've had a Razer Lachesis for some time now and I still can't really get many of mine to work, I mostly just end up using the buttons for simple things like going back and microphone and volume change. Ive mostly given up otherwise

Wish I could be of more aid : / but if someone does figure this out it would be awesome.

I been checking out an idea which might work for you too. The idea is to used a programme to create a macro for what is needed and get what your wanted as series of macros if needed. In my case it will be two macros 1 launcher and shields, then assigned the macros to two keys that you rarely use well just in case if your chatting you dont want to fire or aggro anyone. I found one on the internet open source too. Looks good did not have time to try it out though. here is the url: http://www.autohotkey.com/

I been reading up , Custom PC magaine May issue, they gave a very good review on a mouse Gigabyte GM-MA8000 better then the MS Sidewinder X8. They mentioned a gaming mouse with a good macro programme as well. http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Mouse/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=2944&ProductName=GM-M8000

I placed a order for it hehe its about $50 compare to mamba guess its worth experimenting with. Have a look at the website, the manual seems to be a lot better then the razer which tells me very little.

The Microsoft seems good as well, but there is no information on how capable the macro will be. Logitech too. Was wondering with readers who own the macro programmable mouse can offer their feed back this issue will be useful.
