I'm looking for a new mouse. Must be wireless, rechargable and fast. The Razer Mamba looks great - but a bit expensive at £100. Is there anything else I should be looking at. Heck, if it's really good I'd even go over the Mamba's price.

there is the sidewinder X8, but i haven't used either so i can't say which is better. Here is a comparison by Gizmodo.
I also think logitech had one. -
Razer is coming out soon with the Orochi Bluetooth gaming mouse. It can connect via Bluetooth or a detachable cord. $80 to pre-order at razerzone.com.
Logitech has the G7, which is very similar to their popular G5 and MX518, except it's wireless. -
i have the mamba. its awesome. i love it altho my new laptop comes with the copperhead so i will have two razer mice. razer is awesome. the deathadder is my choice but as you said you want wireless. i would say the Sidewinder X8 for a cheaper alternative. i read the X8 vs mamba comparison on gamespot and the X8 got pretty positive reviews. Even they said the lag on the X8 was unnoticeable.

edit: nvm it says Gaming Optimized Bluetooth, not really sure but it doesnt sound too promising cuz its not really advertised cept for in the specs page. but nonetheless, on wired it will be a good mouse. -
Another huge bonus of having wireless is that there's a lot less wire clutter since the mouse is a heavy movement peripheral. With the keyboard I definitely prefer a wired one, but I don't know if I could go back to a wired mouse.
And the mamba looks so seksi!
Why couldn't they just tone down the DPI and sell it for 50$ less?I just want a 1800 DPI wireless mouse without lag. I'm not 1337 enough to use the eleventybillion DPI features.
-
^ i agree its overly priced for *some useless features like high DPI. But again, its the only one of its kind. This is the mouse we are talking about that says to ppl who hate wireless, "im wireless and as good as a wired one, without the wires!!!
-
I actually think I will pre-order a Razer Orochi for myself. I've been using a DeathAdder for some time now, and it's been phenomenal, but the added portability of Bluetooth is quite promising.
-
That Mamba looks crazy!
I only own a wireless mouse and I'm still using the Microsoft Notebook 4000. I would love a mouse like this, but that's way too expensive for me. I was thinking about getting the Microsoft Mobile 6000 soon... -

i had a brief 30 minute ownership of the mamba...
it's a very nice package... prolly the packaging cost quite a bit as well.
likes:
rubbery grip feel: solid
construction: solid
teflon pads: solid and THICK
color theme/design: very nice
dislikes:
size: too big to be a portable mouse/laptop mouse. perhaps a wireless mouse for a stationary DTR
recharger: the dock is nice, but again.. i don't see myself traveling with a dock.
price: ok, ok, nice packaging.. but i have no intention of displaying my mouse on my bookshelf... can we cut the plexi and save some money?
main reasons for returning the product:
1) carpal tunnel.. yea, i got em on my right hand/wrist area... and i need quite a serious slope down as it goes from index-> middle, ring, pinky... else, i can't use it so much.
2) scroll wheel... damn logitech got me addicted to the free wheel scroll wheel and now it seems that only the OOS VX Revolution is the only mouse i can use comfortably for a while...
maybe i should go order a VX Rev now... before all the stores are out of stock... this model is being discontinued... sadly... -
-
i agree with you 100%... i love the dock... and the whole package... i just can't be on that mouse for extended times... else my wrist and elbows starts to get numb... lol
-
Well, thanks for all the input. Mamba is on its way.
-
^ you will be happy with the mamba. lol
-
He gonna be happy if he use hard surface
