Just recently bought mine and I'm severely disappointed, switch to razer after a slew of M$ mouses and wow...I thought I was upgrading not paying more for crappier hardware.
My Microsoft Comfort 4500 works wonders compared to the Orochi, all software (profile switching and button configs) just ran perfectly, and it was all for a $30 mouse, I just paid $100 for my Orochi and so far its been nothing but problems.

(also bumping this thread because I would like to know if there's a fix before I return the mouse)

I enjoy the Orochi more than I thought I would, I agree its overpriced though so that is why I bought it only because it was on sale ($50.00)

Be sure you updated to the new firmware, as for your issue I can only assume its something to do with the limitations of the mouse in bluetooth mode.

Have you tried to use the mouse with the usb cable and see if it works?

You can not even open the configuration tool in bluetooth mode, so it just makes sense to me that perhaps many of the options you setup in that tool will also not work via bluetooth.

I also have an issue with mine though and its occurring more often lately it seems.

At random my mouse becomes totally unresponsive. No button click or movement does anything.

I have had this happen 4 times now. The batteries are still in great condition.

When this freeze happened only 1 time did turning the mouse off and back on fix it.

The other 3 times I had to restart the computer.

I also tried to remove the device from my bluetooth devices and pair it again as a new device, this fixed it however only for about 30 seconds before it happened again.

I am unsure if I can say its the device or the computer/software/drivers causing the issue but it definitely is annoying when it happens.

    Do yourself a favor.

Return the mouse while you still can, and get a Logitech G700. It is superior to the Razer Orochi in every single way.

As ViciousXMC said, check to make certain you have the latest firmware. The profile switching issue was supposed to be fixed with 1.03 and the latest is 1.06. If you need to update the firmware, you'll have to plug the mouse into usb first.

I haven't had any issues with my orochi and I've come to like it a lot. Initially I was unhappy with the responsiveness but solved this just by changing mouse mats. It's very finicky when it comes to surfaces. Never had the mouse go comatose like ViciousXMC, though.

Perhaps except its not bluetooth and not mini sized.

Its a great full size wireless mouse though.

I already have a G7 for that, I got this specifically because I never had a bluetooth mouse before and wanted to test/use one.

My mouse went "comatose" like 8 times tonight.

I noticed that the lights did not want to come on when I turned the mouse on so checked the batteries with a battery tester.

They are in the yellow "need to charge" zone so probably not enough power to run the mouse now.

So how did the battery life of the Orochi turn out?

Pretty poor, I did not even make it one full month. It was brand new Energizer batteries installed 12/22/10 and they were officially dead tonight 01/19/11 with only normal use 4 or 5 nights a week for a couple of hours.

My batteries just died today, I start using it on 12/25/10. I wonder how long it would have lasted with the scroll light turned off.

That led light uses very little power, and what is the point of having the fancy razer themed lights if you cant use them?

    Exactly what I thought :D

On a different note, I use to have terrible lag when I played games in wireless but I just bought a BT dongle and it works lovely now. Damn internal m11x BT!

Another thought: I still think ~ 1 month isn't bad. It just means I need to buy 2 pairs of rechargeable batteries. Beats having batteries that only last a few days (some other mice), even if they are being recharged in wired mode (I hate wired mode).

No lag for me, just had that occasional comatose issue lol.

The one thing I should note is that the batteries are not DEAD when the mouse stops functioning. On the battery tester there is a big red zone for "dead" and a yellow zone for "dying" and green for "OK"

The batteries were in the yellow when I had to replace them, so the mouse requires fairly charged batteries to function properly and you will be replacing the battery's before they have completely used up all their power.

I think I am going to buy a 4 pack of Sanyo Eneloop batteries and cycle them rather than continue to use one time use batteries.

I plan to do my review of this mouse today so may as well cross post it here when I finish it for user feedback. I was waiting for the batteries to die so I would know the battery life for the review.

gives me 6-7 days with 12-18 hours a day usage. (work office browsing chatting )

it's good that you don't experience the freeze. imagine how many freezes in 12-18 hours a day lol

Edit: just saw your review and I realized you also gets the freeze

read my post above haha. the rechargeables on orochi are not better than some other mice :p

12 -18 hours a day? Damn, I would probably say the same thing if I was on the computer that much :p

Anyone using the Orochi with a dongle? Ever since I started using it with a dongle when I turn the Orochi off and back on It doesn't work ><

I dont use it with a dongle, sort of breaks the purpose of a bluetooth mouse.

I assume though it has to do with the way the dongle drivers work that it does not support auto reconnect.

Perhaps if it was your only bluetooth device it would work (disable the built in bluetooth) also different software/drivers may help as well.

The best ones I know of are Bluesoleil but its not free, still they have free trials I think that you can try just to see if it fixes the problem.

Yeah, getting huge lag when I use it with the internal Bluetooth module on my m11x so I had to get a dongle. This USB BT dongle doesn't come with any drivers. I'll look up Bluesoleil, thanks.

    wahhh same city :D :D :D

yeah I used it for work so it's normal :p

Edit: but it's true that Orochi sucks dry battery fast even rechargeables. I've tested it.

    2 x AA in Orochi = 7 days
    1 x AA in AnywhereMX = 2 weeks
2 x AAA in VX nano = more than a month

    :)

Yep I never replaced my VX Nano batteries in the entire time I owned it.
