I don't think "real true surround sound gaming headset" exists and/or is possible. Even if they have 7 speakers in there it isn't really like a 7.1 system, the effect is mostly simulated.

Meh...surround sound in headsets is a gimmick any way you slice it. If it's a single speaker per ear, then the effect is entirely done via software, which any game will do on its own with a stereo headset anyway. If it's multiple speakers per ear, then you're just sacrificing the quality of each individual speaker to stuff more into that small space.

I haven't seen the links yet. But I will make a prediction already on what Razer will say about it, based on everything else Razer has done:

    * Razer will deceptively call this "The World's First something". When in fact, many vendors have done this already.

    * Razer will heavily promote useless specs, to prey upon the uneducated consumer's perception that a bigger number must automatically mean its better (6400dpi, two mouse sensors, etc).

    * Razer will include some deceptive "educational" material that is positioned to educate you on audio quality. But in fact, is just a poorly disguised attempt to inflate demand for their product by falsely claiming things about competitors' products.

    * There will be colored LEDs to try and convince you that it's for "gamers"

Lol. I just visited their website. 2 for 4 isn't bad. Classic, predictable Razer marketing machine at work.

... yup. "The World's First True 7.1 Gaming Headset".

Whoa?!? TEN speakers?!?! That MUST be better than the headset that I saw the other day, that only has NINE speakers!

Didn't see this one either. But I wouldn't be surprised if it does show up, under the FAQ section.

Wrong on this one. No LEDs that I could see.

10 crappy audio drivers, yummm. I think I'll stick with my Audeze LCD-2.

FYI, 2 high-end virtual surround drivers is so much better than 10 really tiny drivers.

I'm pretty happy with my Megalodon, and judging from the pics I bet it's more comfortable too. Which is my main concern while raiding for hours on end.
