I was browsing the Razer website for a while today looking at all the cool looking accessories because I was thinking of getting a keyboard from them and maybe something to go with it. The prices aren't too much but not cheap either. So people who own/have owned Razer and other products: do they really make a difference in your gaming or is it mostly for the cool factor/bragging rights/looks? I am mostly comparing to Logitech accessories because that's what I've used for years. If I do get a keyboard from them: Lycosa or Tarantula? What is the big difference performance/utility wise other than looks/price?![]()

I've herd wonderful things about Razer from their cult following.
And I've herd that their product are average at best and very overpriced. Not unlike Alienware. -

for mice i love the sidewinder but i don't think gaming accessories are needed. Razar makes pretty good stuff, but it isn't worth the cash.
read on cnet, all the reviews you could ever want there. -
I personally like the feel of a full sized mouse. A while back I purchased a Razer mouse and promptly returned it for a G5 logitech mouse instead- which is amazing for FPS and the like. The G15 Keyboard is also very nice- my only complaint is that the legs in the back to angle the keyboard are not high enough and you are left with a near horizontal keyboard instead of slightly angled like most.

people are more honest on cnet, look at the editors reviews and ALL user reviews. of course Razar will only put good ones on their site.

I think Amazon reviews are decent reads too:

I can definitely tell you that after typing on the rubber keys on the Razer Lycosa, I'll never go back to plastic keys, on a desktop keyboard at least. The feel of the keyboard is great, it looks really cool (it's probably one of the best-looking keyboards on the market), key travel is great. When I unboxed it, I was taken back by the size, it's really thin and light. All of the materials used in the keyboard all feel top-notch, and the keyboard still looks new six months after I got it, with only a little fading on the space bar, but surprisingly, the rest of the keys and the wrist pad show no signs of wear at all. I can tell you that, with almost any keyboard, you don't get the true feel for a keyboard until you give the keys a few days to "break-in". Overall, I've been really happy with my Lycosa and I couldn't see me buying any other keyboard out there. You really have to type on it to know the difference. I'd really recommend it, and I wouldn't call it gimmicky at all.

when it comes to buyin higher-end products, most products will have similar features and techonology (extra buttons, LCD, etc). yur purchase should be based on fit and feel of the product. check out a nice computer/electronic store that would carry these products and test them out yurself. there will be lots of "hidden bonuses" that u will have to have some real time use to find. -

Razer never has their products on display. You could just buy it and try it for two weeks. If you don't like it, you'll be able to get a return at most places, but I really doubt that you won't.

I have the Razer tarantula/lachesis/mantis combo. This combo gives me alot of macro/customisable keys which are very handy in both gaming and surfing.
Tarantula
pros - responsive keystrokes, tactile feedback, very nice keys (truly as described). Lots of customizable macro keys, 2x USB port, Headphone/Mic jack
cons - HUGE size, poor placement of media/macro keys and weak lighting on some keys, Battledock is a whopping fail.
Lachesis
pros - great mouse all around, lots of customizable keys
cons - ugly shape, takes a while to get used to (if it even fits your style)
Razer products worth the money? Id have to say No, but they do perform exceptionally well and built well
If i went with Logitech id end up with a G11 keyboard and G5 mouse -
I would recommend buying Razer products from a local Best Buy and then returning them regardless of whether you like them or not. Since they are never on display, it's nice to be able to try them out for 30 days. If you love it (like I did) then return & order it online for $20 cheaper
, and if you don't just return it and keep looking.
In my opinion, Razer products are not worth the full price, but if you can find them for the same price as Logitech gear, then I would recommend Razer. I got my Deathadder for just under $40 shipped on Amazon and I just love the rubbery feeling of the buttons! It's also way more precise than my previous mouse, which was a middle range MS one. -
I get them from wholesalers & distributors..so throwaway price.
for me logitech is more expensive..
i ve got razer deathadder + mantis.
and i sell razer stuff also to other countries
Razer accessories worth it?
