One question, can i listen to an ipod while using the barracuda headphones? Does it need a USB power source? If it does is there any way that i can listening to my ipod with the marracuda headphone being into a portable USB power source?
-
The barracuda offers a proprietary connector ...
I don't know why it needs a usb, as audio cables carry power.
You only need to connect the front speaker connector, as music is only recorded in stereo. The other 3 connectors are for surround & mic. -
Ok thanks a lot.
-
yes it uses usb for power, and yes you can use it with a portable usb power source. Don't buy it if that's all you are using it for though, you'll look bad wearing a huge headset with a control dongle on it and all the extra cables hanging off.
I love mine, but it stays with my computer. -
Ok chears lol. I just hate using my earphones for my ipod now.
So i can listen to my ipod without a USB power source right? -
No, the only way they work is when plugged into a usb port. So you are either tethered to your computer for power with the short audio cable plugged into your ipod, or you are tethered to a usb wall adapter (with a longer usb cable).
These aren't regular headphones. If you don't have the Razer soundcard on your computer you have to use this adapter:

Yup i have seen one, i am going to buy one for my laptop anyways.

One last thing, i will be getting the alienware m15x and the barracuda have loads of plugs which should i plug in? Caus there are bass, front all sorts.

I strongly advise against barracuda headphones i had a horrible time with mine its set up is just 2 complicated for the mediocre quality of sound it produces. (i find on board with my current headphones nicer esp for gaming).. the prob lies also in the fundamental theory of simulating a sound scape designed for multiple speakers into a space 2-3cms away from your 2 earlobes it just simply does not work as intended. Some games sound just down right distorted due to the design.. esp bioshock
After a return i settled on the Steelseries siberia-neckband.

tucked in for street use
if you have a short hairstile 2-4cms then this ranks as a ideal headset for movies/gaming PC/360/ipod
long messy hair esp on the sides of the head around the ears will make this headset uncomfortable.. keep your self respectable! -

PS: 10 characters atleast...damn -
Alston, the m15x does not have all of the jacks required for surround sound. You would need to buy the Creative External Sound Card and the surround sound dongle (direct from Creative) in order to hook the Barracudas up. Otherwise you just plug in the one green cable for stereo sound. If you are at all considering the m17x, it has the necessary ports on the left hand side.
-
Well considering i travel quite a lot and 17'' inch laptops are huge for me i think i will go for the external card. thanks
-
They are very nice. I personally want to get black ones because... well i have most of my stuff black lol
but it's not a great issue.
Thanks anyway. -
No problem! I'm getting the sound card as well. Hoping it'll be a nice boost in audio quality.
-
You getting m15x aswell?
-
Waiting for the m17x to see the price/performance ratio. If it's too expensive I'll go ahead and get the m15x. Some rumors say it might be launched as early as tomorrow, so hopefully I won't have to wait long!
-
lol tomorrow?
-
Yep, and Alienware customer service has told people "by the end of February".
-
Well it's only 14th. LOL
Should i get the external sound card with the creative Speaker Docking Module?
Razer barracuda headphones.
