I am going to get a gaming mouse when my laptop comes in and I have always liked Razer products. I use to have a deathadder on my old computer which I loved so for my new laptop I have been thinking about getting a Razer Mamba but they are really expensive being at over $100. Razer just released a mouse called the Imperator which seems really good but I havn't seen any reviews or anything. It has almost indentical specs to that of the Mamba (except its not wireless) and it comes in cheaper. What does everyone think?

Personally, my peripherals (keyboard, mouse, speakers, headphones) have outlasted my hardware and software by a long shot, especially since technology for these products hasn't changed drastically IMO. I would pay the extra money to use it for a longer period of time and be comfortable and happy.

You might also want to look into the "new" DeathAdder. It's the exact same shape, but it has a snag-free braided fiber cable and a 3,500 DPI optical sensor instead of the original 1,800, putting it on a level that competes with many high-end laser mice. -

Hmm I will take the new deathadder into consideration. Thank you. Are there any other mice I should be considering as well?

However, if you do, the Logitech G9x offers comparable DPI as the Razer Imperator and Mamba, and it's cheaper to boot. Like the G9, the G9x comes with a weight system, three different kinds of interchangeable grips for that perfect ergonomic fit, as well as an onboard macro and profile system, free-fly or click-to-click middle mouse wheel, and a braided cord.
I highly recommend this mouse. You can check it out at the following link:

The G9X is priced between the Imperator and the Mamba, and it's a good competitor to both if you don't need wireless ability. I used to own the original G9 and it was great, although I only really used the wide-load grip because I palm my mice rather than claw. Also, I never really got much use out of the weights; I prefer my mice as light as can be.
If weights are a priority, Logitech also makes the G5, with a 2,000 DPI laser, and the new G500 with a 5,000 DPI laser. There's also the Sidewinder from Microsoft.
If there is a Best Buy anywhere near you, I recommend you take a drive there and check it out; most of the ones around here have several gaming mice on display for customers to hold and get a feel for, from both Razer and Logitech. The one closest to me, for instance, has the Razer Mamba (which is ergonomically identical to the DeathAdder) and Lachesis, and the Logitech G9X and G500 on display.
As for longevity, Razer offers 2 years of warranty coverage on all of their gaming mice, with the exception of their Pro|Click series, which get one year, but those are more office-oriented anyway. I'm not sure about Logitech, but I assume it's similar. -

The Roccat Kone is also a great mouse which is actually (finally) available in the US. WOOT!

The imperator does look nice, and it is hard to be the deathadder in ergonamics, though I haven't used the Mamba. Kind of went overboard a year ago and got the copperhead, deathadder, lachesis, and logitech G9. Mostly used the Deathadder. But like using the Lachesis for the two top buttons so I blindly recommend the imperator because it has those.

If you like the DeathAdder, you'll love the Mamba considering it has the exact same shape. The only difference is the Mamba has two additional buttons on top, besides the obvious stuff like the 5,600 DPI laser and wireless mode.
