I'm not sure if this is right location to post because its related to connective, accessory and etc. Mod may move my post to right section, Thanks.

My question is, I just brought a Sound Blaster EVO Zx headset recently which support A2DP & HFP Bluetooth only, my Intel® Centrino® Ultimate-N 2230 (Wifi+Bluetooth) doesn't seem support it, just wondering if there are any Bluetooth receiver board that support A2DP & HFP out there? I gonna install on my alienware laptop or you guys have any opinion like USB receiver if no such Bluetooth board.

    Many Thanks !!

Its the native windows Bluetooth stack that won't allow audio streaming and controls.

You need to use a third party Bluetooth stack in order to stream audio to your speakers.

Try Toshiba Bluetooth stack, it allows streaming. I'm using that, but it has a 30day use period.

I don't have a link for it at the moment since I'm on mobile.

That doesn't seem right. Most, if not all current bluetooth cards nowadays will support A2DP. It's the Dell Bluetooth driver stack which interfaces with the Windows Bluetooth Applet.

OP, have you tried the Dell driver set for the Intel 2230 card?

    Driver Details | Dell US

    Driver Details | Dell US

The one I posted is for Windows 7. I don't think Dell updated the drivers for Windows 8 (if that's what you've got).

When you pair the Headset with the laptop, there should be a Driver software installation window. What does it say as far as devices installed? It should look something like what I posted below, and if it pairs right, it should say one of the devices installed is Advanced Audio Distribution Profile, which is the A2DP.

Thank this gave me an idea to fix it, but the headset's software driver itself lack of bluetooth support(must connect to USB) good thing is, it able to pair with my phone on the same time so I can control the headset setting.

PS : I must manually update the driver, I can't seem get the mic/audio work on same time while connected via bluetooth, it only allow me to use mic OR audio only.

Just to reiterate *every* Bluetooth adapter, built in or otherwise, made in the last... ohh, 7 years or so at least supports A2DP.

If it's not working, the likelihood is that there's a problem with the driver. I'd try totally uninstalling it (from Safe Mode) and reinstall.

Nice specs on that headset BTW. If only all Bluetooth interfaces supported Apt-x...

That doesn't seem right. The support page specifically states the headset support Bluetooth stereo audio. I know this is a dumb question, but have you tried the Sound Blaster software and drivers for the headset?

Creative Worldwide Support > Sound Blaster EVO Zx

Like unfaix stated, it might be one of those situations where the headset doesn't use the standard bluetooth drivers for the stereo audio and requires the special sound blaster ones. If that is the case, you would unpair the headset from your system, delete it's device entry from the Devices and Printers control panel, then try installing the Sound Blaster software and drivers for it and see if that fixes the stereo bluetooth problem.

Nah. Headset is Bluetooth standard profiles compliant. It's more likely that something is up with his laptop.

That's why I'm thinking it could actually be needing the specific SB driver which uses a custom bluetooth profile for the stereo audio to work.

Didn't have this sort of problems with my Motorola S9HD.

Yes they do. But at least you got it working. It's actually Intel which needs to update the bluetooth driver stack so it includes the A2DP (or whatever profile it's using).

Working on some Toughpads with the Intel 7260AC combo card I had a lot of issues with the default drivers.

The driver is Intel, but it uses Microsofts BT Stack.

Thats more or less the software layer and determins what kind of features and support you get.

I ended up hacking up Toshibas bluetooth stack to fix my issue where a heart monitor could not push EKG information via Bluetooth File Transfer with the stock stack.

Bluesoleil also worked, we bought a licence for it but due to their terrible support and the fact the software kept corrupting on us when more than one user logged into the machine I took matters into my own hands.

My suggestion is try to find a BT stack you can use, even try the Blueosleil trial, its a good stack just not good in the multi user enterpirse environment I was trying to use it for.

Really? I've never had one little bitty problem with the MS bluetooth stack running the 7260 in my Alienware. Given, I haven't used any fitness monitors with my 7260, but the HSP, FTP to/from my phone, A2DP, BPP, and AVRCP profiles work just fine. Dare I say it... (Windows 8?)

PS: I stopped using Bluesoleil when it crashed in the middle of a file transfer and corrupted the file. :mask:
