I'm wondering if this seller's Zeroshocks are genuine...

    http://stores.ebay.com/SumKee-Shop

I've heard much about fake cases, and his feedback, although 100% positive, is small... The photos seem to be those of real products, but I wonder... Assuming I grab one, are there any particular details, etc., to look for to verify that the case is genuine once I get the package (or anything to look for to spot a fake...)?

it would seem, shinza is only an importer of japanese products.

elecom manufactures all the zeroshock products, they're also a pretty big computer accessories and peripheral manufacturer in japan. they're like a logitech in japan, kinda.

anyways, the version of the zeroshock shinza imports, is generation 2. they have a generation 3 listed for a 17" macbook.

the differences in the generations are as follows.

generation 1 = same material pretty much used in all the generations, just plain sleeve with zipper all around and zeroshock label sewed onto the side like a shirt tag kinda thing.

generation 2 = have a wire frame making it more rigid, many ppl prefer gen 1 cause they can fit oversized laptops in those, since they can stretch, and the wire frame prevents gen 2 from stretching. also gen 2 is a stamped on zeroshock logo on the bottom corner with a pocket inside thats kinda like a small flap. this is the version shinza imports.

generation 3 = waterproof plastic kinda material on the outside with an outside pocket, everything else seems to be the same as the other generations cept for the fact the inside now have an extra wave-form padding for extra shock protection. i havent gotten my hands on a generation 3.

I don't think shinza ever made Zeroshocks, I think they just imported them from Japan, made by a company called Elecom. Shinza probably just took what specs and pictures Elecom had on their website and paste it on to theirs. Why do you suppose it takes Shinza so long to ship Zeroshocks out even though they are based in California? My guess is they are imported from Japan. Surprisingly though, when I bought the Zeroshock, the tag inside says Taiwan. Go figure

DoOKeH just beat me to the punch....actually I got the Zeroshock Gen I from shinza a couple of years back, its a fantastic sleeve btw.... it would seem they only have the 2nd gens. now.

i ordered one from that shop a 14" zeroshock2 since shinza doesnt have any atm ( also did some research on the forum, lots of people have very bad experiences with shinza's customer service)

my sleeve hasn't arrive yet, so i have no comment on the fake or not. But i can tell you this, they seems very profesional and legit by the way we communicate. After i paid they send me 2 emails about my payment and about the tracking number.

Ill get back to you after i got my sleeve

Glad to hear the good news, I couldn't wait for the delivery time so went ahead and bought the 14" Sumdex Impactguard. Its also the polyurethane material, not as good as the Zeroshock IMO (have the Zeroshock I generation), but at least it has a handle, that is pretty handy in itself.

Got it from this seller, too; excellent bag and it feels superior to a Zeroshock I that I handled in the past. The only thing that annoys me is that the "Zeroshock III" label on the bag has an idiotic tagline underneath... "WAVIN' RAVIN' PROTECTIVE GEAR". What the hell? "Wavin' ravin'"? What is this nonsense, do they think at Elecom that their target audience are rap listeners or "surfer dudes"?
