Ok here is what I am looking for. I am looking for something that won't break the bank and will carry a 17" laptop.(I'm a college student so looks are somewhat important :p) It must at least be able to carry a power cord/brick and the laptop. I am not sure if I case or a backpack would be best for me TBH. I am open to suggestions on what type I should get too. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Might help if you included a budget. Reasonably priced can differ greatly among individuals.

I'd recommend a backpack. I've been using an over-the-shoulder bag and I just find them plain old uncomfortable and annoying. Especially on bus rides. And yes, a price range would be nice :)

go with the north face big shot or surge. it fits my 17" comfortably and you can keep low profile without looking like tech geek lol. messenger bags will kill your shoulder.

    Consider the Kensington Contour series.

The Targus Voyager Backpack is really quite amazing. It has a ton(i mean a TON) of storage, and comes with a rain cover that covers the entire bag, and it looks pretty nice to.
