Wired makes some very nice, compact cases.

Tom Bihn has some new sleeve cases that are pretty hot, also expensive. We have a review of their cork model in the works.

For macs they have the mactruck. Also tom bihn is nice. For 17inch notebooks noreve cases (from france) are very nice and finally I like these for aluminum briefcases: zero halliburton. Of course all this adds to the weight and cost of your notebook. The zero halliburton's are very expensive

i think the STM alley bags look sexy as hell, especially in carbon

the booq, which isnt out yet is a gorgeous sleeve that if similar to the ones made for other apple laptops will fit tight as a glove, it also supposed to be very protective too? it looks more like anti-scratch too me

im looking for a sleeve that i can use so i may confidentally put my macbook in my backpack along with my other books, the one im looking at right now is the waterfield sleeve

it also doubles as a bag because u can purchase d-rings and attach a strap to throw over your shoulder, but is still thin enough to fit in a backpack

an finally, the only bag i actually own is a Tumi that my momz purchased and gave to me because she didnt use it, its actually a messenger bag, so my laptop barely fits :( they do sell a bigger laptop version of this bag though, i just happen to have the messenger bag version

This store has a complete section for MacBook cases.

Also, ebags has a great utility to search for bags based on your computer model. Here is the link.

If you want to go more on the high end, look for the Apple section here at Brenthaven

They are expensive - but not much more then a timbuk2 or crumpler and comparable to most Tom Bihn and Booq's. The shipping from the link I posted to US is 24.49. Not too bad really. And for the uniqueness alone I think they are worth it.

I was also able to get a hold of the internal dimensions and five of those bags would work with my Alienware m9750, so....Yay Me!

I have used too many bags to list but here is a small review

stm laptop bags have low quality .. mine actually damaged by the loop that holds the shoulder strap going through the bag, and i have heard people saving that it has warped their laptops

i really like brenthaven bags, since they are a lil expensive, but they really help keep your laptop in GREAT condition, they really have some serious protection.

    Check it out... www.brenthaven.com

Ohh yes, I also love the Brenthaven, but the problem is that price is way to high in my case, considering that I bang my backpack all over the place :)

:) The cases were designed by a young, multidisciplinary team and manufactured making use of the best materials and applying exhaustive production controls.

:) Isn't that the reason to get a brenthaven???

    LOL

I too bang the crap out of my bags and my 1 yr old brenthaven looks better than my 1 time used samsonite suiter... go to www.provantage.com which has decent prices on them...

Yes, Sumdex has a nice line, also for MacBooks... Now, I haven't seen a company specializing on mac only bags... but in short, any bag or sleeve will fit a Mac if the dimensions are right... it's all about the design.....

From what I hear, Timbuk2 is what the guys at Apple use.
