look forward to hearin back from u.
-
I made a thread about it because it was so ingenious yesterday!
How much did you end up paying? -
Not less than $200 for sure
cheers ... -
Can't wait to see what you think of it. I've been wanting to buy one but since it doesn't support Modern Warfare I've held off. If they promised support for MW2 I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

It still doesn't beat the precision of the good old mouse.

I haven't got a chance to use it I just did the unboxing video which I have to edit... but so far it's pretty smooth and the torque on the test was overwhelming at higher settings lol
-
Good price, they started retail at $180 (said the rep on a 2 year old tech video) and the price has yet to fall XD
If you were to get bored of it, I would glady buy it off of you

I don't think we're going to see MrButterBiscuits on the forums for a few days. He's going to be way too busy having fun with the Falcon. -

i'm not sure how to think of the Novint Falcon... it may seen nice as a reallife gun controller for FPS... will wait and see -
What I think would be odd to adjust to (unless you can get a game without padlock view) is that you would walk where you point the gun in game. We are used to the concept with mouse/kb setups, but it would seem a little counterintuitive to me, at least at first. I mean, in reality, you can swivel at the hip and point to the side... eh, maybe I'm making more of it than it is. Just seems like if you want to get really realistic, you'd need to break the padlock view.
Then it would be sorta like a mechwarrior control scheme... which might be a touch much for some people to handle, heh.

Actually you will see me I'm an NBR addict.... and ya for me I will definitely say I bought this primarily for FPS's... although even with the gun handle the controls are remarkably intuitive... it's really easy to handle a cursor with it
-
That's good to hear! I was worried about the adjustment period with it. The more I read about it though the more I get the impression that one actually has to just buy one and try it to understand. It seems like it would be fun to use but difficult to transition to, and I can't even fathom what that texture demo would be like...
One of these paychecks... -

I finally got the chance to play half life with it... and at first I can tell you I was just bumping into walls.... but the only reason for that is becuase Novint gives you complete and utter control of sensitivity, turn speeds, cursor sensitivity, feedback, aim sensitivity... and that's all just on one page of options.... after that there are 2 more pages of options, something with a control box stifness and area Oo.... and then depending on your length of arm, size of hand etc. there is a page for changing to control area to fit and tailor pricisely to how your sitting, the way your arm is positioned etc. of course a good way to do that is just to pull the falcons arm out and push it back in to calibrate it at any time.... as for gameplay, now that I got the hold of it I am destroying combine left and right and there is no other feeling like being hunted down and trying to fire off round after round when your weapon actually has recoil!!!! It heightened the single player experience immensily, it is incredibly immersive... although, I don't think at this point I'll be playing any comptetitive MP with it, but we'll see

Alright guys sorry to say this...
But the Unboxing and actual Video review are being put on hold until I get my new laptop with a built in Firewire... the Mac isn't working right (Mac)
However the written review and pictures are still on track! -
MrButterBiscuits, I'm guessing you still have to use the keyboard to move your character around? The Falcon is only for controlling the gun in-game, correct?
Personally, I'm not comfortable moving my character around with the keyboard as I'm used to consoles. That's why I use gamepads for the most part.
Thanks. -
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Yeah it's a little different but I really enjoy it... unfortunately I can't get the videos up for you guys until my M17x arrives
catch 22 lol as I am also doing an unboxing video and review for that as well... the Mac doesn't like DV cameras haa
-
I've seen videos of it in the official website but I can't tell whether a keyboard is needed for the character to move. Do you move the character around with the Falcon or the WASD keys?
Thanks. -
This is exactly what I was thinking, it doesn't make it easier to play the game, it makes it more fun and realistic, lol.

Nothing is "easier" than a mouse that's why it has been around for so long! lol... your right Penguin the whole point of the Falcon is the create immersion in games
Recieved My Novint falcon on the 13th!
