Going by the format of the Notebook Cooler Buyers Guide thread:
I need a cooler for a
Lenovo Y560p I7 Laptop used for casual gaming
(can get pretty hot during gaming on the side vent located on the left side a bit towards the back, not sure about other vents)
1) My budget is under $100, though I would strongly prefer to stay under $50 for a cooler.
2) Noise is a bit of an issue, because I used to have an old laptop that sounded like a jet engine and was annoying when going to sleep. I'd prefer little noise.
3) Picture: Just click on thumbnail on bottom to get a full picture
4) No color preference.
5) No brand preference.

I was thinking about the X2 as well, but I don't know if that fan will be able to reach a good part of my vents!
-
Anyone else wanna recommend something or do you all agree X2 and U3 are the best candidates?
Btw I bought both today at a local Microcenter to check them out..... x2 is alright but the fan only hits my cetner vents, and the U3 is cool cause I can place the fans right where my vents are but it has a steep angle!
Though I do realize that unlike the U3 which has fans that go almost against the bottom of the laptop, the X2's fan is further down, allowing the laptop vents to release hot air through the mesh screen into the area where the fan can blow it out.
BTW, WHAT IS A GOOD PROGRAM TO MONITOR TEMPERATURE ON MY MACHINE SO I CAN FIGURE WHICH COOLER IS MORE EFFECTIVE?!?!? -
Stop creating multiple threads, please.
We (the ubiquitous we, here referring to the active, assisting members of this forum) will answer your questions the best <s>we can</s> we care to, truthfully. Now for most of us, myself included, that means the best we can. Keep in mind that we are giving up our time to do any research / composition of notes that goes into our final post.
You must also realize that sometimes we will not have the answer to your question. Bumping a thread multiple times, repeatedly complaining and/or venting frustration, using a thousand exclamation marks and (especially) creating multiple threads on the same topic is annoying and inconsiderate of the fact that we offer our services free of our will and expectant of very little in return. If we had the answer, we most likely would have offered it the first time.
Please adhere to the rules and decency of our forums.
Now, if you did not obtain the answers you had hoped here, consider visiting a different forum site and posing your question there. In the spirit of being good natured, and because I would absolutely expect you to ask where to go, I would suggest the Lenovo forums for your cooler and either a larger, more mainstream computer forum or a home entertainment forum for questions pertaining to monitors and televisions.
Edit: Please do not type in all caps. Refer to above for reason. In answer to your question, let me Google that for you. -
I recommend you to make a homemade one. You can easily find a lot of videos on youtube showing many diferent ideas of coolers.
Also, it is super cheap to make it. 2-4 fans=2-4 bucks + any surface you want (1 buck)that you can find in a dollar tree shop.
Here is a thread I did showing my homemade cooler :

I hope it can help you -
Hey dude, relax, I didn't mean to offend anyone and I'm sorry if you feel that I in some way did. The only reason I might have made another thread on the same topic is that I became more educated on a particular subject and decided to post a more educated question, starting a new thread as too PREVENT anyone answering from wasting their time typing up answers about a question that I've already learned about. If I bump a thread, I do it because of the large amount of traffic this forum gets and some threads just slip down fast and I'm pretty sure barely anyone reads the second page, so someone that might have answered it doesn't even notice it was there.
Actually I've been getting more and more very useful info from this forum for a while, so it is working and I'm very grateful for that fact. Also, thanks for you own input man! -
What do you think of this way to test the cooler?
I shut down my laptop, then a while later I turned it on and played the first 20 mins of an episode of a show, then looked at HWmonitor quickly and took a screenshot. I then shut off the laptop again and waited an hour and a half, then hooked up the X2 cooling pad and turn it on full and turned computer on. Watched the other 20 mins of the episode and then looked at HW monitor and checked temps and took another screenshot. -
