I have a 15.6" Lenovo y560p one of the newer models with the I7 Sandy bridge.

I am a casual gamer, as in I play games regularly but I don't invest thousands into it.

I would like to have a monitor that I can mount on the wall right in front of my desk (about 3-3.5 ft across), and use as an external for my laptop. My best is also directly behind my computer desk and if I lay down legs to the desk my head is about 10-11ft away.

I want a monitor that I can use to play games on and watch stuff off my computer as well. I know a huge screen would be expensive, but I'm wondering if I will be able to see on a 27" alright (I wanna get a wall mount that has the long foldable arm so it can come out far from the wall).

I was thinking a 32" tv originally but those are so expensive.

    I wanna spend like $200-450.

I did some research and looks like a 32" HDTV to use as a monitor for games especially would have to have a ridiculous resolution and obviously mean cost thousands.....

I probably have to go for the 27" or something......

Soooooooooooooooooooooo, keeping my original post in mind, suggestions?

You want a huge monitor, get an LCD projector.

You're not going to find it in a monitor that size with the budget you have. Better to invest in a smaller, better quality display than to get a cheap, large one.

What is a ridiculous resolution to you? No HDTV will have a higher resolution than 1080p and you can find 32" HDTVs for probably $350 and up. The only 32" models that would come close to costing a grand or a little more are LEDs with 240hz and 3D.

That's what I'm saying... a 32" 1080p is not a big enough resolution to play games and look good as I've read.

However I'm wondering if it's worth getting a 27" 1080 monitor or if that will look bad as well, cause I've read many times where people say to only get a 27" that's x1440 resolution and those are about $800+ from what I've quickly seen online.

A 6570m has enough of it's work cut out for it running 1080p. Standard gaming resolution (not enthusiast) these days is still in the 720p range, or 1366x768. To get a better grasp, a 6570m will run 1080p games at med-low settings acceptably, depending on how old the game is (this is for relatively new games).

1440p has 1.8x the number of pixels than 1080p. Not something a 6570m (or anything but the most high end GPUs, for that matter) can handle.

From how far away will you be viewing the screen while PC gaming? This is almost as important a factor as anything else.

Oh, and you won't be able to distinguish 720p from 1080p on a 32" HDTV (let alone a 27" monitor) from 10-11', that might factor into your considerations. Considering getting a smaller monitor (1080p) for close viewing and a separate, bigger TV for far viewing.

    Why nancy?

Hmmm..... so you are saying it's not even the price factor, but that my graphics hard will have a hard time with that high 1440p resolution anyway?

My desk is about 3-3.5 feet accross and I sit at the desk to play games (all kinds FPS, strat, rpg etc...)
If I'm laying on my bed (this I only do when I am watching something) looking at the wall where the monitor will be, it's about 10-11ft. And obviously what worries me is not the watching, because I know it's a lot easier to get good looking video, but the being able to game upclose and it look good, WHILE having a large enough screen to be able to watch stuff from my bed.

I'm actually kinda starting to think MAAAAAAAAAAAYBEE, I should just get a smaller, like a 23" monitor, it will be easier for graphics card to handle, it will look nice, and it will be easier to use upclose cause it's not to big. I imagine a decen 23" goes for somewhere between 150-250$ (am I correct?)

And ALSO get a 32" LED HDTV (I imagine price for a decent one is $350-500) to put where my old tv in my room stands and just run wires to it from the laptop for watching stuff.

This way I only spend $500-$750 (if my calculations are correct) in total and have the best of both worlds and not have to settle for less in either aspect. This would be cheaper than getting one expensive big multiuse monitor and more practical.

The size is irrelevant to everything but cost and mechanical feasibility (the swing arm and mount). You should be more concerned with the resolutions that the display can support since you're concerned about the graphics card's rendering capability.

Size will not affect your graphic card performance, but resolution will. However, I honestly doubt you need anything larger than 23" unless you're moving it well back from where you are sitting. 23" is pretty damn big (two feet diagonally). $150-200 can net you a nice 23" depending on where you buy it. Check out Newegg's top rated products.

I got my 32" 1080p for $350 on a very nice deal. Shop around, wait for holiday blowout sales if you can. $300-350 is retail for a top line 32" 720p LED HDTV. $400-500 is retail for a nice 32" 1080p LED HDTV. You can get them for much cheaper if you shop well.

And check out this chart for 720p vs 1080p:
