Recommend a good external monitor for reading

    My preferences are these:
    • CCFL, because LED seems too bright/blueish -> eyestrain.
    • VA, because I don't care about movies/games, but only for office applications/web browsing (lots of wikipedia visits per day). If there is an IPS monitor that is good for these specifications, I will consider it.
    • 22 inches max. I'll only go with a 23'' if it meets the other criteria.
    • Resolution should be 1920x1080 or higher.
    • Budget is $300-400.

I know I won't find a monitor with all these specs together (I have done a pretty thorough search and haven't found anything), but I would like to get some suggestions from people who use their laptops like I do (reading/browsing), and don't get much eyestrain after hours of usage.
    Thanks in advance. :)

PS: This is the correct place to post it, right?

Accessories was the right place to post. :p Don't worry though, we won't hold it against you.

Given your requirements, you won't find something higher than 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 at that screen size. I'd take a look at the Dell Ultrashap monitors, decent IPS panels and they fit in your budget. You will also have problems finding CCFL panels as well most consumer panels use LEDs now, but with an IPS LED you won't really get that bluish feel.

Dammit, I could swear I saw a monitor thread on "Hardware Components". Something about those Korean (?) monitors with the extraordinarily high resolution. I guess I was wrong, sorry. :p

I forgot to mention I don't really like matte, unless the AG coating is light and the display is subjectively good. And for what I've read, the ultrasharps use harsh AG coating, although the display is considered by many to be one of the best around.

Any other suggestions besides the Dell?

I'd look at LG and Asus, HP and Samsung monitors as well. HP has some pretty good stuff in the high end form what i hear.
