similar to the logitech G9 that isnt the G9x (i realize the G9x and G9 are virtually the same minus the 5000dpi of the g9x, versus 3200 dpi of the G9). i have the logitech g9 currently but its starting to show its age. i've had it for about 2 years now but now im in the market for a wired gaming mouse for a palm grip with on the fly sensitivity adjustment, and a left and right lean to the scroll wheel. high dpi is not necessary, as i keep my mouse at about 1600 dpi for gaming and normal desktop use.
i'm looking at the razer imperator as a replacement. thoughts?

edit: i already have a razer exactmat for a mouse pad, i use it on the Speed side more than anything.

I just ordered the imperator. Its not the cheapest out there but it definately looks like it might be one of the best mice out on the market right now. The specs speak for themselves. If you can afford it, why not?

You can always pick up the big grip for the G9x for $20.

Yeah, I love the light clicks on the DeathAdder. It just makes the killing that much easier.
OP, I'd say the Imperator is a good choice, since it's somewhat customizable, like the G9, in that you can adjust the position of the side buttons. -
Imperator looks awesome...but it might be good to note that the Imperator looks almost exactly like the deathadder with some obvious upgrades and slight changes.
My point is that if you didn't like the light clicks of the deathadder, you MIGHT have the same problem with the Imperator. It's a little tough to tell with Razer mice though because usually only one or two people have them in stock and typically there isn't a huge selection, so it's quite often a leap of faith.
Tell you what...buy the Imperator and if you don't like it let me know and you and me will work something out. -
@Soviet: the big grip for the G9X is the same one that comes with the G9 and also the one i currently use. -

How about taht coolstorm or whatever it was called that Red Dragon was using. I'm still waiting for a full review.
I'm with Soviet though, the G9 is unstoppable. Speaking of, I gotta replace the accursed teflon feet again. Plastic mousepad adds extra wear and tear on the feet, but they offer better performance. -
ah screw it. i just ordered the imperator from amazon. when it gets here (~a week from now) ill think about doing a review, but dont hold me to it as i stay pretty busy every day.
-
Congrats on the purchase. If not a full review, try and at least get some pics for us if you can. I know a lot of people are asking about this mouse, since it's so new.
Speaking of Razer mice, my Orochi just came today. -

I'm keeping the DeathAdder for my desktop. I'm using the Orochi purely for my netbook.
Actually, on that note, I'm sure I still have my old 1,800 DPI DeathAdder around somewhere. Get back to me on that. -

Both the G9 and the G9x do not come with the $20 big grip as it needs to be purchased separately. -
I was also once stuck between the G9 and the Imperator. The deciding factor for me was the fact that i just couldnt bear the idea of having to explain to anyone i know that my mouse is better than their mouse because i can put weights inside of it to customize its feel. Its just all a bit too serious and pedantic.

Personally I like the G9x with the textured grip and with the weights and weight cartridge left out. It's so feathery light and fast and combined with a low lift off height makes for a deadly mouse.
-
Seriously, a super lightweight mouse is the way to go. No restrictions on your movement, no unnecessary extra momentum. -
-
It's actually much larger than the standard wide-load grip. It's about 1.5x longer, and a bit higher and wider as well. I loved mine.

Well if you've already got one, you might as well keep it. Mine's already got a couple years of heavy use on it, and it's starting to show in places.

Ah, I swear that must have been a typo on Logitech's site when it was first released. Makes sense...of course they have to one-up Razer, who had just released the Mamba before that.
Still, let's see them come up with an optical sensor anywhere close to the DeathAdder's 3,500! -
-
Updated firmware increased the DPI on the same sensor? Never heard of that, I was always under the impression that DPI was a hardware thing.

Both the G500 and the G9x share the same engine and the same firmware that drives it. Because the first batches of the G9x were on older firmware, Logitech limited the laser engine to 5000dpi because they know it "pixel skips" as it nears and exceeds 5000dpi. In short, Logitech needed more time to revise the firmware to remedy the issue, but went ahead and released the G9x anyway. All of the G9x boxes still say 5000dpi on it because it would cost money to make a new box for it.

Glad to see you're enjoying it
I never really thought of the DeathAdder as huge, but then again, it's the only mouse I've used for a year or two.
recommend me a gaming mouse...
