Guys I want to get an external harddrive for my p151hm. I want to use it to put music and movies, but I have questions about using an external hd. I've never had one before and this is my first laptop ever. I was wondering will it make my computer slower if put all the music on my laptops computer? If I use an external hd will it still make my computer slow or will there be any problems with it writing all the files on the external instead of my reg hd? Thank you for your help.

Hey i recently purchased the Western Digital My Passport Essentials USB 3.0 500gb for my Alienware M14x. The main purpose was to utilize the USB 3.0 in my laptop and well of course more space when i require it.

It's a really cool hard drive. I love it's size it's and sometimes the transfer speed is amazing. I transferred a movie and it was going at 141MB/sec

No putting all your music and movies on your computer (internal hard drive) will not slow down your computer unless you’re within a small percent of completely filling up your hard drive, you don’t have anything to worry about.

I have the same drive as HottSushiz. It's a great drive, and I recommend any drive from Western Digital

build your own...too often the hardrives are soldered to the case and if the case dies your information is stuck there. The case dies more often then the hardrive. Newegg.com has tons of cases

Putting Music/Movies on your hard drive will not slow it down. Unless you are about to be out of capacity. You should regularly Defrag it to make it run smoothly.

I have a WD Element External Hard drive (2TB) for 1 year now & I back up everything on it. So far, no issues. I also got mine from newegg.

if your going to use a defragger use defraggler or Smart defrag 2(i prefer this one) Also note if you due a due partition you can put your movies/music on the second partition, which will be the inner part of the drive...the slowest part and put your programs and apps on the first partition which is the outer part which is the fastest.
