My asus monitor is very very glossy. And I have a small smudge mark on the piano black gloss finish on the top of the monitor. What do you guys suggest to clean it off?

What I've always recommended:
An excellent product indeed! -
A dry cloth. Anything you put on eventually has to come off. If it doesn't, it'll smudge.
-
I accidentaly discovered the perfect(for me) solution.Use the cloth they give you when you buy a monitor or TV(They are sold separately too).Wet it and then squeeze dry it extremely well.It makes bezels and screens absolutely new without leaving any sort of residue behind.

A slightly moist microfiber cloth moistened using 50% water and 50% high-purity rubbing alcohol.

I heard of a slightly different one, 50% distilled water and 50% isopropyl alcohol.

Yeah, I just use tap water rather than going out an buying a gallon of distilled water, really makes no difference.
Supposedly distilled water is more purified and has less contaminants when compared to tap water, but to be honest, my monitor looks just as clean using tap water. -

You must have soft water, in some areas there can be hard water with an lot of chalk and other deposits, which fur up you kettle and washing machines, this could act as an abrasive on and lcd screen.

Wrong! This bad advice constantly appear in threads like these. Non-distilled water can be loaded with impurities that can discolor or damage laptop parts.
p.s. some people claim a sponge bath is just as good as a shower. Many rubbing alcohols are sold in near (55-65%) that ratio. And while it might be okay for cleaning desktops, it should NOT be recommended for laptops -

I said isopropyl alcohol not rubbing alcohol , and lots of websites recommend my formula for cleaning lcd screen, below is an link to one, but it is one of many.

Indeed you did. However, here in the U.S. the two are typically used interchangeably. My apologies for any misinterpretation.Again, you are correct. However, since there tends to be a great deal of variety in laptop materials, I must suggest anyone following that advice to exercise caution.

I have to admit i have not tried the 50/50 solution, I prefer to buy an branded lcd cleaning solution so i have an guarantee if damage occurs, I have been using an Fellowes lcd cleaning spray and it works great.

I just use cotton balls with small amount of water on it then dry it with a clean cloth
it's super effective! Don't use 70% alcohol.
Water is the safest and effective solution to clean the monitor.
Tap water or Distilled water is alright to use for the screen, not much difference, unless you use it inside your body. -
The "safest" yes, but hardly the most effective. And tap water (which may contain a plethora of impurities) is NOT the same as distilled water.

I just tried Pledge CLEAN & DUST multi-surface and it works really well, I do have an edge to edge screen (plastic cover over the screen) and it is sparkling
-
Yup Tap and Distilled are different. But just for a surface hehe...no biggy. Distilled water is the cleanest and safest solution, and used for injection and diluting medicines or powders. I use tap water because it is good enough for me, and it cleans too with cotton balls. UNLESS your TAP water is DIRTY and plenty of mineral / compounds / IMPURITIES use other solution.
But yup not as effective as branded cleaning items >_<
Cotton + H20 result varies. -
Thanks for the replies everyone, you know I was referring to the top of the monitor right? Not the screen?

+REP , works fantastic on my Samsung R590 , but is it OK for an normal lcd screen, as mine has a plastic cover over it, it`s called edge to edge screen.
