I will be recieving my new dell 1520 and am now in the market for some cheap (yet good) accessories. I need a mouse, laptop bag/sleeve, and anything else i might need. So I'm wondering whats the most bang for ur buck when it comes to accessories. --I'm a mid gamer but would like a wireless mouse though -- thanks for suggestions

Dunno about prices in US. Logitech MX518, G5, G7 and Razer Copperhead, Diamondback and DeathAdder (own) are the usual suggestions. Note everything after G7 may be too much $ :p Check out the Microsoft Wireless Optical series - normally cheap and good, if not specifically marketed as "gaming"

Still getting a sleeve even if you get a bag is good - it will stop light scratches and spills. Don't know about you, but I am bothered by the slightest imperfection  I repainted a bedroom wall because of one spot that was chipped :p

Maybe good cheap headphones like Sennheiser PX100 or speakers as well

I plan to get a Tom Bihn sleeve for my notebook. Superior protection in any bag.

PCPal, don't get that one, I have heard really bad things about it. Poor build quality...

As for OP ??? Mouse: you have bluetooth, take advantage of it: Logitech V270 mouse is incredible, it's small, has a on/off switch, no plugging crap into your laptop, it has a carrying case too, and is uber sensitive for gaming, but can be adjusted down or just gotten used to for windows.

case: depends on your $ situation, if your looking for a backpack, ogio has nice ones, sleeve, just about any work, messenger bags, if you got the cash crumpler and timbuk2 have really nice ones, if not, ogio has a decent one for a decent price, plus Dell sells some targus ones that can match the color of your laptop that are pretty nice for around $50. If you just want a standard case for cheap, hit up best buy and take your lappy with you. See what ya like then hit online for a better price, or if they have a decent price snag it.

I use a G5...think I might prefer a G7 now because sometimes the wire gets in the way...I'd definitely be happy with an MX Revolution though.

Besides mouse, the best accessory I got were my speakers. Kind of expensive, but I got the Logitech Z-2300 and worth it in my opinion. I also got a Creative Xmod paired with it (think external sound card).

If you're headed to college (you didn't say), invest in a lock.

As for bag/case...I just used a grocery store type bag (not really, but along those lines) and then put it in the laptop sleeve/compartment of my North Face Recon backpack :p. Well, that's what I used until I received my Asus carrying case from btotech.com

I am in college now, and I was wondering how often would you really leave your laptop sit that you need a lock for it? I was just curious. I can't think of anytime I would leave it sit that long. Well, I mean I can't see leaving it anywhere I couldn't see it.

I will take my lock to school with me (I did last year too), but I probably won't use it. I think leaving your computer is just a bad idea.

Buy a surge protector. Sadly, I have no suggestions for you; I posted a thread asking about which kind to get. Also, sfbags.com has quality sleeves. As for a carrying case, try Swiss Gear products. I'm looking into buying one.

oh yeah, something I need to get my hands on as well. A surge protector, and I suppose I should get a lock, although I never really see myself using it. I suppose you never know.

If there's a power surge your laptop would get a shot of electricity through it frying your system...kinda explained all in the name "surge protector."

We all we're once man, welcome to dah forumzor (my english is amazing). I also own a V270 Logitech mouse and they are pretty awesome, just be aware it does have some quirks, and the sensitivity thing is something you gotta get used to (gotta change settings in control panel)

Don't even get a lock. When I was in college (up here in canada), people would leave their school-issued (leased) laptops on a random table in the computer commons and go take a leak, grab a coffee, do all sorts of dumb stuff. I once saw a guy who left his computer on all day unattended on a table. I had a very powerful desire to take it, to teach him a lesson, and because I had eaten kraft dinner all week (to me that stuff tastes like dirt after that long).

I say that because if you have a lock, you'll be more tempted to leave it and go do something for a bit and come back. In the mean time, unscrupulous people (like myself) will inspect your abandoned hardware closely for Ethernet cords, ram (if your gone a while) etc. etc.

BTW if money is no object, Pelican laptop bags are the absolute best. If Bush wanted a red button breifcase like JFK (god forbid), it would be a Pelican. These things are hardcore; they're buoyant, resistant to extreme temperature etc. just freaking awesome.

I am gonna have to look into one myself. The glossy screens look horrible when they get scratched up.
