    Hi Guys

I’m quite new when it comes to laptops so I could do with a bit of advice. I've recently bought a Acer Aspire 6920 and was wondering what speakers to get?
I play a lot of music so I would like something good for that but not too expensive, I was thinking of getting some 2.1 speakers but would I need an external sound card to play a 5.1 system on this laptop?
Any suggestions on what I could buy without spending too much money?

    Thanks

I'd go with Klipsch Pro Media 2.1 I've tried alot of 2.1 systems and that ones my favorite.

Would I need an external sound card to use them? If so would you be able to recommend one? Thanks

They'll work without a external sound card. But if your picky then you can tell the difference that one would make. I personally always use an external sound card, but I'm a pretty picky listener. If you want a cheap alternative then you could use the creative xmod, I have and it don't like it, but like I said, I'm picky. The most important part about an external sound card is getting it out of the laptop, cause there is alot of interference inside the laptop from the other electronic devices(mostly the HDD). I personally use the Echo AudioFire2 but its a bit more extreme for the average listener. Turtle beach or M-audio has some fairly cheap ones.

These are good speakers and are recommended often. I like the Logitech Z-2300s. I've had them for over a year and think they're great. You'd be fine with either.

No, you don't need one and no, I don't recommend one. The speakers will work fine and well through the regular onboard sound.

a pair of active nearfield studio monitors! they won't be that bassy, but definately provide excellent music quality
