Hey everyone,
I've got a 3rd generation iPod
See pic for reference:![]()
Yeah, yeah, I know I'm behind the times. It still works great; however, the battery is going. I'm well out of my warranty, so I figured I'd have a go at replacing the battery with an aftermarket model. I've done a little looking and it seems as if they go for less than $20. If anyone has any recommendations regarding a replacement or the process, I would be most appreciative.

Are you sure you can't get one of the new Nanos, a Classic, a Touch or even another MP3 player, David? The third generation is quite old...
...the new ones have more space and larger colour screens...

How about a video that shows you how to replace it.

I've heard very good things about ipodjuice.com's replacement batteries and kits.

I know it's old... But, as a starving college student with a turbocharged car demanding money, it'll do for now. I only have the iPod about half full and to be honest, the color screen doesn't do too much for me. I was using an iPhone this weekend; that thing's sweet! So, until I can afford something like that, a $20 part seems like the best solution. That is, unless you want to send me an early xmas present.
That was pretty much just what I'm looking for. Have you purchased their battery? It looks decent and isn't too expensive. I may go ahead and grab it.
Thanks to both! -
Hi Vespoli-
I myself am refusing to conform with the times. I just replaced the battery for my ipod 3g 2 days ago.
I got the battery kit from Ipodjuice.com. I bought the one with 1100mAh (claiming 83% more playtime) battery because I had a 15gb. Spent $40 + shipping. So worth it.
Glad to see someone else has a 3g ipod -

).
Sorry to hear about your cash problem, especially with the Nanos being so much cheaper than before now. -
I actually just ordered the 800-something mAh battery from ipodjuice--hope everything works well. Please let me know how your install went!
Sam: I'm not really that broke,I just have an iPod that works perfectly well and it mainly sits in the car during road trips, so appearance isn't all that important. The touch does look cool. Maybe when my contract is up (and the iPhone price drops) I'll look into it.
Thanks to all who gave input.
Replacement iPod battery. Please advise.
