Does anyone use a Laptop Mount for their vehicle?
I just recieved my laptop mount from Autolaptoplinkinc.com
    What a piece of crap!!!
I guess you get what you pay for.
    Details from their web site.

    Quote:
When you purchase a laptop computer mount from Autolaptoplink, you
will receive a custom auto mobile laptop holder mount stand desk table for your
automobile. Don't spend extra money buying a GPS satellite system
when you can purchase our mount and use your very own laptop as
your GPS. Our one-of-a-kind U.S. patented mounts are priced from
$29 to $69, which is very affordable for todays Working World.
There is no need to spend hard earned money on a over priced auto
laptop mount. Call our experienced staff to order today. We
mass-produce,there is no minimum order amount. We ship
    Worldwide.

    Why I bought it?

I was looking around for a cheap mostly to use once in a blue moon laptop mount and I stumbled upon this company off of a google search.
The price I paid which included shipping $82.00
That was at least 1/2 the price of other mounts on the web site and this price was including shipping.

After a few days of looking at the pictures to see how this thing mounted and how it was built I ordered one anyways since I am going on a 1200 mile drive next week.
The picture here showed how it is mounted.

It looks straightforward and easy enough to mount.

As in this picture it looks like a semi-high quality unit until you get it.
The one I got was made using 1/2" Conduit piping with the electrical ends you can buy from Home Depot. All the extra screws are plugged using pvp pipe so that the threads cant tear up your seat. The black cover is cheap wire covers strapped using black zip ties.
So basically everything was built using stuff at your local home depot. Even including the Clear Latop mount that sites on top.
Its a large acrylic piece that was cut and then the front lip was bent so that the laptop would not slip off from the front.
The padding is some cheap silicon matting that was not even cut straight. After I took it out of the box my 2 year old son pulled the matting off. I had to glue it back together.

I haven't mounted it yet since I am still contiplating on returning it.
But I need it by next week and I dont know if another company can have it delivered before then plus I also need to mount it and drilling would be a bad thing.
This thing is so cheaply built I could make a better product with the tools I have in my garage.

Here is the web site to the company just in case.

 I have been looking for a laptop mount for my F350. After looking at several, I found http://autolaptoplinkinc.com/ where they sell them for less than 40 dollars up to a little over one hundred (with mounts). As I have a special application where I run over rough roads I called the number and left a message for sales. A few days had passed and I then wrote an email, again a few days passed. This site offers live support and I contact a support person, told them that I was still waiting for a call from the sales department. The next day I received a call from a male and I asked him about my application and that I was concerned about vibration because of the roads I travel on. He adamantly said that this mount would not allow the computer to jump around. I again asked him if he was sure that the computer wouldn't jump around and it would be fine for my partner to view as I drove down dirt roads.

Believing what he said, I ordered it and within two weeks I got the mount (although it was promised with in one week). As I pulled it out of the box, I noticed glue on the bottom side of the metal plate holder for the laptop, the "heat dissipater" was nothing than rubber mat that you install in your cupboard, the workmanship was substandard with glue smeared on the bottom side, looking as if some kid put it together.

All ready to install it, I noticed the special mount for the ford pickup was back ordered. I tried calling and left a message, I then used the online support and asked when it would be delivered, they said within a week... right, it was another two weeks before I got the special mount.

When it all arrived, and after several heated emails with support, I installed it, what a pile of garbage. Driving down a paved road, it started shaking so bad that you could not see any print on the screen. I fiddled with it, trying to make the mount shorter so the bumps wouldn't be so amplified... to no avail, it still bounced to high heaven!

Even when I was configuring it to the interior of my vehicle, had everything tightened down, I placed my laptop on the tray and within a few seconds it fell... dropping my NEW laptop to the floor... thinking to myself, how in the world will this keep my laptop from falling when I am on the road?

The strap that they supplied that wraps around the computer and tray is made from some elastic material that is stapled together, not good staples but the same kind you use at home for papers... two staples, yep two staples.....

We now just use or lap or the seats as the laptop mount... what a waste of money this was!

well, It sounds like a "ooh look....shiny" item to me, but If I had a car I might consider thinking about looking into possibly wanting to perhaps invest in one if the prices was somewhat appealing.

I too purchased a autolaptoplinkinc stand. What a piece of junk. Could not install it in my car to set level. The thing is too wobbly to support the notebook when driving. Got two blocks down the road after installing before the arm adjustment screw came loose and dumped the laptop in my lap. (they didn't ship the elastic holding strap that was supposed to come with it).
