Just want to give a quick review of the CooSkin keyboard protector from eBay.

    Function:
    - does its job well, offers good protection against dirt, particulate stuff, liquids
    - doesn't interfere with keyboard function at all
    - deadens keyboard sound a bit, but after a few weeks of use started squeaking annoyingly with button presses

    Aesthetics:
    - not perfectly clear, puts a haze over the keyboard, reducing readability of keys especially in the dark
    - well, it's also ugly of course; a travesty on my TZ

    Durability:
    - silicone is tough and I can't imaging it tearing
    - BUT, after less than a month of use, most often contacted spots on the cover developed a rough haze/opaqueness, making the cover even uglier

The haze from wear was so unsightly, I ended up removing the CooSkin protector.

Thanks for your review. I have considered buying a silicone keyboard cover but guessed the outcome you've described.

    Thanks for the review.

By the way, the CooSkin ones are actually made of TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) and not silicone. There are advantages and disadvantages for both, but overall silicone is better. I've been using a silicone one from kbprotector.com (made in Taiwan) for 4 months now, no deadens or squeaking annoyingly sound at all, and also no rough haze/opaqueness developed. For feel and fitness, silicone is also much better than TPU.

Here is a good comparison table made by a user on another forum:
