Does the MSI have sound control software, or maybe sound blaster software? Maybe in there is a setting to control the output or input of the sub/mic port. You might just try plugging the microphone directly into that port without the Y cable. If you do so, turn the volume way down, so if it is in sub out mode it doesn't blow the microphone. I looked at a review for the Kave, it doesn't look like it needs a Y cable, since it is using a 3,5mm stereo connector.

So check for the sound software first. I don't have that computer, so I don't know the details.

At realtek hd audio manager i can select different modes like stereo or 5.1 or 7.1 when I select stereo I can record with with microphone but at 5.1 it is not detecting a microphone what if I connect subwoofer
Front speaker and rear speaker to my computer and I will buy an usb sound card (cheap one) and connect mic to the usb sound card. It should work so what about the microphone sound quality?

I did some more research, and looked over the manual for your computer, and some info on realtek. From what I can see the mic port on your comouter is either mic or center channel and subwoofer. If the reaktek software is set to auto dectect, it will ask you if you plugged in a mic or the sub/center. So you have to select one or the other. So far I see no way around this. Which seems strange, as your laptop setup is not unusual.

I did see some talk about reconfiguring the ports within the realtek software. And I even found a desktop example http://www.reaper-x.com/2012/02/13/how-to-remap-retasking-realtek-onboard-jacks-ports/

Maybe that helps. I will see if I can find more info later.

USB sound cards have their own sound chips. They pull power from usb. It is simular to adding a sound card to a desktop, but instead of connecting to the pci busd, you connect to the usb buss, or port. They offer stereo, or 5.1/7.1 surround versions, with mic jacks. So sound quality and features depend on the model you get.

I haven't found out anything else. Maybe most use USB headphones, or don't use 5.1/7.1 with mics. I am still curious on this as I would like to get a nice set of 7.1 headphones with a mic.

I think this will be my final post on this. Solutions:
Use what you have in stereo mode.
Use it in 5.1/7.1 without the mic.
Get a usb mic to use with it.
    Get a usb sound device.
Or just replace the headphones with a usb set.

Usb quality will depend on what you get. Meaning it could be good or bad, so read reviews. Good luck.
