I just opening my Toshiba Qosmio G25 today. I'd like to connect it to the internet and will be getting a wireless router. They are all different prices. What is the difference?? Are any certain ones better? Will I need anything other than the router to connect to the internet (my house is already connected to roadrunner)? Thanks in advance for any help.

Get some form of wireless-G 54Mbps router. These run up to $50, shouldn't be more than that. Edimax, 3Com, Trendet, Linksys, Netgear, D-Link are all good brands.

You will not need more than the router. Your modem will plug into the router and the router will provide wireless connection to your laptop.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. John- I printed out your wireless routing buying guide. It looks like it will be very helpful. I was under the impression that connecting the router wasn't that complicated, but the guy at Best Buy said it's not that easy (especially making sure your connection is secure). Since I am not technologically savvy, I guess I'll have to pay someone to set this up for me. :(

At least try before shelling out your money. It is not that hard. Plus the router company will usually help for free.

There are several routers that are user friendly. My favorite brand is Netgear because it is easy to setup. It has diagrams and the cd will walk you through every step as well as the security options are explained in simple language. I've tried other routers like linksys where it seem more difficult to get everything secured.

Netgear WGR614v6. I got yeaterday from CC and I paid 29.99 + tax. no rebate. Netgear products are always make me happy. I was installed 15min max. simple, easy, just following the instruction. I have had 3 different router and switching hub from Netgear, all of those are great and cheap.
