Hi i have the pavilion dv9000, it has an output s.video 7pins. so i want to watch some films i have on a bigger screen (my tv).
I have from an older ATI Radeon AGP video card an "S-video - rca video adapter" that hae 7pins...... so i plug on my laptop waiting to could watch on the television the screen, but the tv show nothing....

i look on a e-bay-like page here in my country that a guy sells a similar cable and when i ask him about it (telling my problem) he told me this cables has a "capacitor" so it must work....

    is this true??

(sory for my poor english ;) )

Your S-Video to RCA adapter that came with your ATI Radeon should work fine. You have to enable the display in the graphics card driver's control panel. If there is an option similar to "Force television detection on startup", enable it. Also, if there is a "Rigorous Display Detection" button, click it when your TV is plugged in and turned on. This applies to HP laptops using AMD/NVIDIA or Intels with a dedicated NVIDIA video card. I am not sure what the control panel for Intel IGPs is like.

i have exactly the same problem with my dv9220us, i just cant get to work the s-video video output. :(

now, by discussing in other forums i realized that the problem should be related to the cable, but no one there was able to actually prove it , so, i was not sure if a new/properly cable could, actually solve the problem.

...so i will be really grateful if you could explain me the difference between a [s-video cable /vs/ s-video cable w/capacitor] or just trow me a link :)
