    One person there has said that it would work with an Inspiron 1520 and so if that is true then it would work with the Vostro 1500 as well :)

    I apologize for being insanely ignorant, but what is the other (non-S-video) side of this supposed to connect to?

    you plug one end to a component cable and plug the other end of the component cable to the tv.

    Thank you for the prompt reply. I guess I should have been more specific, though. How would I get both audio (s/pdif) and video (component) connected into that one hole?

    I believe the link provided by OP uses the 7-pin s-video connection found on dell laptops to send both video (component) and audio (s/pdif).

    However, I don't own this cable... so someone who does should probably confirm this first.

    Right. I have a Vostro 1500 and the 7-pin S-video. But my original question was


    According to the picture in the link, it looks like a single cable with a single hole at the end. So... my question remains.
